Pfalz for me – Von Buhl 😍
…..( hiding my bottle of clare valley😅
Nahe has great producers, Kruger-Rumph, Dönnhoff, K.H. Schneider and Schäfer-frölich😁 but my fav is Rheinhessen and Alexander Gysler and Battenfeld-Spanier/ Kühling-Gillot❤ Have you tried wines from them?😊
Mosel, because I love Joh Jos Prüm. I love its lightness and that it still lasts for decades. It has acidity in spades, counterbalanced by the fruit and some sweetness, or a lot of sweetness, depending. I love the way the wines, while drinkable young, meld the acidity and sweetness into a richness decades later, while somehow still retaining that light framework. Don't get me wrong, I love Dönnhoff, Maximin Grunhauser, Müller-Catoir, Egon Muller back when it wasn't ridiculously expensive, and more.
I need to learn more about dry Riesling, particularly from the same vineyards from which I have wine, so I can compare the Grosse Gewachs to the prädikat wines.
I want to find affordable quality Riesling from the Pfalz region. WSET said the Pfalz made the richest style of Riesling so I wanted to give a chance I had the Von Buhl Riesling Bone Dry and it was good. I wasn’t impressed and I am need to try it again. I use to drink Mosel because that is the region where I think most of the Rieslings are imported from I think.
Thank you for the education. I would have answered Yakima. The St. Michelle dry reisling is my jam. And, I know that may not go back to the origin. I'm also happy to find something local that I enjoy. And happy to learn more from you. Thank you.
What’s your favorite region? Yes
So you like the wine cause the nearby roadworks?
Hilarious an American calling a two lane road small, many of the most beautiful locations in my country are single track with passing places to allow for cars to go both ways
I think this has do with years of marketing my the Mosel, WSET and the wine media. Yes, Mosel does make some great Riesling; but there are some many amazing regions. The Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Rheingau and Nahe all make extraordinary, even Franken can impress you. In Baden the focus is on Burgundian varietals, though in some vineyards and micro-regions it can show quite well. It's very difficult to pick one favorite German Riesling region.
Clare Valley ..South Australia 😊
Hey, this video has been uploaded quite some time ago so I don’t know if you’ll see this. But what do you think of Alsace Riesling? I went on a trip to the Alsace and I found the Riesling, especially the Grand Crus, to be very flavourful and interesting. I quite like the Alsace region as a whole, what’s your opinion on this wine region? I’d love to hear back from you 🙂
Kind regards from the Netherlands!
Matt you are never a snob. I really like Rieslings from Nahe too. Rheinhessen sp is wrong.. and Alsace!!!!
Hey Matthew, what do you think about Riesling from New York? I heard they're doing something very interesting over there.
Alsace.
And actually upstate NY.
Finger Lakes!! 😊
Niagara!!
Columbia Valley at the moment.
Traverse City
