In today’s edition of The Dish, we’re going old school.

When it comes to Italian cuisine, it’s as old and treasured as you can get at Ralph’s in South Philly.

The sign outside says it all: Ralph’s is now officially the oldest Italian restaurant in the country. It opened in 1900 and is an institution on 9th Street.

The fourth and fifth generations of the same family are now running Ralph’s and this year the restaurant is celebrating its milestone 125th anniversary.

  1. My grandpa went with his grandpa, and I went with my grandpa. Can't wait to one day take my grandkids!

  2. Toast To the family?? I'd like to know how much family was at the party. They been cutting famiily out the business for generations. First my gpop, Ralph's oldest son and his twin sister. Then you do it to your own nieces/nephews/cousins that you don't talk to. Once my great uncle Mike died, and then great uncle ralphie, uses cut their families out. Nobody in south Philly thinks the foods been good for decades. Living off the name.
