The UK is leaving the European Union in a few days. EU Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni has said the UK could have “very large access” to the single market in a post-Brexit trade deal.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has insisted that the UK can strike a trade deal with the European Union by the end of 2020. Former Prime Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni argued the EU is ready to allow the UK to have very large access to the single market in a new trade deal.
He added however that this depends on the work of the UK Government and compliance with the EU’s demand.
Paolo Gentiloni, former prime minister of Italy, made his statement at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
