Back in the 1600s, during the plague, clever Florentines came up with a safe way to sell wine: tiny stone windows built right into the walls of palaces. Called “buchette del vino” (wine windows), they let noble families sell their estate wine directly to the public—contact-free, long before that was trendy!

Today, some of these windows are open again, serving wine, coffee, and even gelato… connecting the past with the present in the most delicious way. 🪟🍇

Unfortunately, not all wine windows in Florence are legit. Many places are trying to jump on the trend by creating wine windows through doorways and regular windows diminishing the authentic experience.
