Clearing the jungle around our old Italian farmhouse (#7)

Finally, the time had come to get started on some work: clearing the jungle so we could actually see what our land looked like! The job was a massive one, and there was no chance we could do it on our own with the little time we had available, so we decided to get a team of workers in. And they did a spectacular job!

The footage in this episode was filmed before we planned to make a YouTube channel, and also before we knew what we were doing, so the colours, stabilization and resolution is all over the place, plus we talk a lot in Norwegian (but with subtitles, at least). Bear with us, it gets better from the video after this one, promise!

    The whole time i was thiniking "wow its going to take them so long to haul all the green waste up to the truck/road". I never even considered they would just pile it up and burn it haha

    Maybe get a local to tether a few Goats every few weeks to keep the weeds at bay. Nothing cleans out scrub like goats. Cheers from Australia.

    Since that was filmed in 2023 and now its 2025… I am curious how far the house has come until now… you say you are off there for your Sommer holiday now so I am guessing you are not living full time n the renovated house 😀 I am excited to follow the journey!

    its hard to imagine the decades perhaps centuries it must have taken for previous generations toil and sweat to create all those terraces in the vicinity…its really sad to see so much of the area falling back to nature and covering it all over with vegetation.

    Please add these items to your shopping list s . A small caravan. Solar panel charging and storage batteries. A petrol powerful brush /wood shredder. Large rubble bags. Petrol pole saws and brush clearing cutters and safety equipment. Fill up the caravan and motor down to italy with it all empty and then live on site and in tents. A few goats will help later on if you have water on site.

    prior to the clearing i couldn’t get a real sense of the property. after…WOW!! i love ‘outdoor rooms’ and looks like you could have many. outdoor living most of the year, with that view ayyyyyy che bello! 🥂

    If you weren’t already through with the clearing I would send you a shirt to protect your poor arms! This makes the clearing of our blackberry bushes seem like a little project!
