Did you know it’s literally illegal to paint your house a boring colour here??

Burano is honestly one of the most photogenic places I’ve ever been — every single street is lined with the brightest, happiest houses you can imagine. It’s like someone spilled a giant paint palette over the whole island. I kept turning to Mike like 👀

All these photos are taken at around midday, so yes, it’s much quieter than Venice.

Apparently, if you want to paint your house, you have to ask the government for permission, and they tell you what colour you’re allowed! No drab beige or grey here — think hot pinks, sky blues, sunshine yellows. It’s like living inside a rainbow, and yes, my camera roll is full of it.

If you’re looking for the best things to do in Burano, just walking the streets is honestly enough. Every corner is a backdrop, every canal a dream. Grab a gelato, wander, take a million photos. Trust me, your Instagram will thank you.
