SAVE THISโผ๏ธDid you know thereโs a special Italian fine dining restaurant on top of a former school compound?
Itโs not everyday we are this impressed by a restaurant, and @somma.world has checked all our boxes on what makes an impressive dining experience. Situated on the fourth floor of @newbahru, Somma is Chef Mirko Febbrileโs (@iammirkofebbrile) latest project, representing the โsumโ of his lifeโs culinary experiences while growing up in Puglia and all around the world โ hence the name, ๐ด๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ข. โ
We arenโt strangers to fine dining, but can we just say that this restaurant has went beyond our expectations? Starting with the service, we were greeted by the entire team from the moment we entered, and presented with two simple bites made out of artichoke, which is the seasonโs prized gem. Each team member was also highly attentive to us, synchronising their movements for that special touch. And they were also able to relate the story behind each dish perfectly. ๐
Now, for the food, thatโs on a whole other spectrum. Somma only changes their menu three times each year, and the menu we had is for ๐๐ฐ๐ญ๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ๐ณ๐ข, otherwise known as โthe season of harvestโ. Their pasta was made using an ancient wheat known as ๐๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ข๐ด๐ข๐ฏ, along with a 20kg red carrot reduction sauce. We canโt even fathom the amount of work that goes behind the R&D process! However, Somma shouldnโt be your โintroductionโ to the fine dining world, because the menu here is anything but simple, with acquired flavours and hard-to-accept ingredients like sea snails and aged cheeses. ๐ฝ๏ธ
The menu starts from $168++ for the 4-course, with three signatures (such as the Cheese Experience) you can choose to add on. For the level of service and food, this price point is definitely worth every dollar, especially since it is highly likely theyโll be getting a star this year (fingers crossed~).
