In a small Italian town called Caldari di Ortona, there’s a wine fountain that flows with free red wine around the clock, welcoming both residents and visitors alike.

What might sound like a dream is an everyday reality in this corner of the Abruzzo region, where wine is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Positioned along a well-known pilgrimage route, the vineyard that hosts this unique attraction is not the first to offer wine from a fountain-but it is the first to do so without interruption.

Unsurprisingly, this has led to constant crowds and long lines, especially on weekends when reservations are required.

The idea was brought to life by Nicola D’Auria, owner of the Dora Sarchese winery, in collaboration with architect Rocco Valentini.
