Very politically stategic move by the Vatican. U.S. leaders will more readily listen to an American than they will any other nationality. Especially if whatever the new pope speaks on is directly related to the U.S.

With 133 Cardinals, which is up from 115 when Pope Francis was elected, I honestly thought this would have taken a bit longer. I was so happy.
