  1. Nice review as always Lance! I was waiting for this one, but now I am disappointed. For the price it should be better built and offer more (or be cheaper). The hunt continues.

  2. Makes me even more convinced of my Rancilio Silvia Pro X that I've learned to love over the past years. Its internals look so much more robust, simple and durable to me.
Obviously I don't have to long for the so-called pre-infusion of the Gaggia. Unnecessary pre-wetting I already have on the otherwise rock solid Rancilio.

  3. Just landed in Portugal last night, now watching Lance's new video on a larger screen tethered to my phone.

  4. Hey Lance, when you do other 2 x boiler reviews try to include the Gemilai machines, especially the ones that are not "true" dual boilers but have a standard brew boiler + an HX steam generator for near simultaneous use or even the full HX "Owl" with discrete group head heating element, PID and pressure gauge

  5. I just don't like toggle swich looking "button"

Other than brew and hot water button, it act as ON/OFF

It should stay up or down

I can't get it why they chose this design

  6. Tariff impact in the US? (Imagining that you can read the future…) but it seems are we are looking at a 20% increase once tariffs fully hit in about a month?

  7. Makes me feel better about my Profitec Go- already a year in and relentlessly pumping out delicious spro!

  8. Purely on aesthetics, the Gaggia Classic GT is not great IMO. It stands there leaning forward as if it is pridefully looking down upon the GCP. The GCP is humble in its stature, as a tried and true espresso machine that has stood the test of time.

  9. nice!!!! having breakfast and coffee and watching the new video where machines get taken apart.

edit: Legato/Gemilai/… can adjust the pre infusion time (if I am not mistaken)

  10. I think you should be able to extend the solenoid, so it fits right with the driptray down. But I'm not entirely sure as I don't own the machine (classic all the way)

  11. I would have preferred if it had the same buttons as the Gaggia Classic, which is the classic look, I like that it is not all fancy chrome etc etc. in essence they should just make a dual boiler in an enlarged Classic case. The screen on top can be bigger and should have been tilt adjustable. The water tank should still be accessible from the front. There should be an LED light underneath. If I had the skills, I would get two Classics, butcher the case so I can fit it all in one case with 2 boilers and then add all the Shades of Coffee mods but in an aesthetically factory fitted way… for £995… and then I would upgrade my current Classic set up….2019… no mods… If I mod it I will kill it… I want to change the OPV but no I will never get it back together again and would be back to Tassimo

  12. Great video, Lance! As always, an honest and well-informed opinion backed by your knowledge of both coffee and tech. Loved seeing you rocking the FREKKO hat and brewing our coffee!

  13. wow that i one ugly machines, its like you made a gaggia classic in a gaming version….

  14. Nice review..

Who knows, maybe one day there’ll be a review of the new Quick Mill PoP (with thermoblock) or the PoP Up (with a single boiler). Both come with a PID, pre-infusion, and convenient front-facing flow control.
    Sounds promising, right?

  15. It's actually Pulse Skip Modulation (PSM).

Specifically, the vibratory Ulka pumps normally rely on the AC mains frequency to pump water. There is basically a piston with a hole through it (with a one way valve) in a little channel which vibrates in time with the mains cycle. To reduce the flow, you need to skip mains cycles, so you use a zero crossing detector and a triac to determine when you want to allow an AC cycle to start and when you want it to stop.

PWM would not give you the effect you want.

  16. Eeeew, was kinda sympathetic to the machine, but once saw what is inside I would not even trade that to my PIDded Silvia 😂 PIDded Silvia is like godmode.

  17. Interesting dual boiler video series Lance. ♥️ Gaggia DB (or as Siri suggested Haggis DB) vs two Gaggia Classico side by side. Whose spro will reign supreme.
