What if the best part of Italy wasn’t Rome, Venice, or Florence—but a hidden gem in the south where even Italians go to escape? Welcome to Puglia.

I’ll take you on a slow-travel journey through whitewashed villages, secret beaches, olive groves, wine country, and stone-carved cities like Matera. Plus, I’ll show you what it’s like to stay in a traditional countryside villa—and why it might beat any hotel stay you’ve ever had.

From trulli rooftops in Alberobello to fresh pasta in Bari Vecchia, we’ll explore why Puglia feels different from the rest of Italy—more relaxed, more authentic, and in many ways, more unforgettable.

  1. Primitivo and Negroamaro are my favorite wines, since at least 10 years, if not 15. Got many guests hooked on Primitivo, and when I introduced them to the Rosato di Primitivo, holy moly! They loved it, and so do I!

  2. Heartwarming video on a place close to my heart. If anyone is going to Matera, try to get across the canyon to the caves where ancient abandoned rock-hewn churches can be found. The caves themselves date back 9-10,000 years!

  3. Hi Gregor, I love this video, you're showing places that you don't see anywhere else, you connect with the locals on a different level. Thank you so much. This is the first time I see this region of Italy. I'm going back in October 👏 probably not my last trip either so I will definitely include this part of Italy on my next trip.
Thank you again for all the information you bring to all of us ❤️

  4. Ciao Gregor è un piacere seguirti ,comunque credo che l Italia abbia 500 vitigni autoctoni, per questo ogni regione è originale a livello vinicolo .❤ un abbraccio

  7. I love the video. I have become obsessed with your videos. I have my itinerary already for September/October but this makes me want to adjust it.

  8. This was the video I was hoping you were going to make. I appreciate your wealth of knowledge into the places less known to the common folk. Thank you, Gregor!

  9. During the cold war, I was stationed at a US Air Force base near Ostuni. American airmen were commonly seen at those places and beaches. The base converted in 1995 from Air Force to US Special Forces as a staging for middle east missions. Everything closed in 2000. The base is still there but abandoned. San Vito Dei Normanni.

  10. My next Italian adventure! Thank you! Just home from 10 days in Toscana sad I didn't spot you in Firenze but it was very busy on Liberation Day!…

  11. Thank you Gregor for this video. My family and I are visiting Puglia for the first time this summer so your advice is timely and greatly appreciated. I cannot wait to visit.

  12. Trying to figure out your nationality…. I thought you were from Italy, but this vlog shows otherwise. Are you from France? Please correct me, if I’m wrong
