Review of The Prince George – Milton Keynes
Location: Portishead Drive, Tattenhoe, Milton Keynes MK4 3FA
We tried the Sunday roast at The Prince George and overall, it was a really good experience.
We had the trio roast with beef, gammon, and chicken. The portion was generous, and the taste was good—not excellent, but definitely enjoyable. The sides were a bit smaller than expected. The cauliflower cheese was decent—not super cheesy, but of good quality.
The vegetables were quite basic—just carrots, some lettuce, and cabbage. The carrots weren’t roasted enough to get that sweet, caramelized flavour you usually find in a great Sunday roast. There were no broccoli or parsnips, which felt like something was missing. On the bright side, the roast potatoes were soft and tasty, soaking up the gravy nicely. The Yorkshire pudding was large and decent too.
What really stands out at The Prince George is the setting. Both inside and outside, the pub looks great—beautifully renovated and always welcoming. The service is excellent: quick, polite, and professional.
One thing to note: you can’t order food from your table—you need to go inside to place your order, even if you’re sitting outside.
Toilets were clean and well-kept. They used to have small towels and hand cream, but this time it was just tissues. Still clean, but not spotless.
Food was served really fast, which is always a plus. We also tried the nachos, which used to be thick and amazing, but sadly this time they were just average—like something you’d buy from a shop, with basic guacamole, cheese, and sauces. Not as good as they used to be.
The biscuit waffle for dessert was surprisingly tasty—even if it’s not homemade, I really enjoyed it.
Overall:
The Prince George might not offer the most outstanding Sunday roast in terms of flavour, but it delivers a great balance of price, portion size, and atmosphere. It’s a reliable spot—beautiful place, good food, great service. Not amazing, but definitely super good.
