Day 3 on the bike saw me cycle 174km, leaving Italy’s vineyard-rich landscapes behind and crossing into the mountainous terrain of Slovenia. The initial push from the previous day caught up, making the moderate headwinds and a significant 1200m climb a real challenge. Noticed the shift towards more functional, less tourist-centric towns. A desperate airport stop for power highlighted the lack of charging options. The reward? The freedom of Slovenia’s forests and open spaces. Battling headwinds and a sore elbow, I finally reached a stunning hilltop campsite overlooking a lake. Learning from yesterday’s overexertion, tomorrow is about finding a more sustainable pace.
