Street food culture is a veritable looking glass into the lifeblood of a city.
But if you’re planning a trip to Florence… you might want to be careful.
According to the telegraph, if you decide to enjoy some of their local snacks while walking around a few of its historic streets-
You could find yourself in trouble with the law and slapped with a fine of up to $580.
The law is only in effect on four streets, but they just so happen to surround a popular deli that has been described as having the best sandwich in the world.
Which obviously means it’s also ripe with tourists.
According to the DailyMail, the city announced last year that it would put forth measures to curb littering and loitering tourists who-because of Florence’s notorious lack of public benches,
end out camping out around it’s historic sites to eat their snacks in the middle of the day.
The ordinance is on a trial run until January, but it may be extended after that.
So when in Rome do as the Romans do…
But when in Florence… you had better do as you’re told.
