Today we are in the beautiful island of Ischia, meeting 90 year old Enzo who is making a delicious fish soup. We had so much fun going fishing with Enzo and his friends, and we even caught a tuna. On this occasion, we also filmed his wife Ushi, who made some gnocchi, so look out for that video in the upcoming weeks. Now, back to Enzo’s recipe:

1 seabass (around 400-500g, whole, cleaned and filleted)
1 scorpion fish (around 400-500g, whole, cleaned and filleted)
250g mussels (fresh, cleaned and debearded)
200g clams (fresh, cleaned)
200g squid (cleaned)
1 Croaker
1 Monkfish
400ml passata
Splash of white wine (around 50ml, dry white wine)
Salt (to taste)
Chili flakes (1/2 tsp, or to taste)
Fresh parsley

Buon appetito!

  3. There are some dishes that just speak by themselves. The freshness and quality of the ingredients is top notch… What else can you ask? Just a good slice of bread which seems a total must for this wonderful dish. And the setting, in the garden… Wish I was there!

  5. Grazie Enzo e la sua famiglia, our Christmas festivities dishes were not turkey or any other poultry or beef but seafood, codfish, eels and plenty of fishes. Would have loved to be in Ischia tasting his zuppa di pesce close to paradise. Thank-you again Vicky enjoying always your videos and our Pasta Grannies and Gran Daddys. Ciao.🥰🙏💖👏👏👏😋😋😋😋

  7. I think we should venture out across the Mediterranean in search of more Pasta Grannies. I am thinking a nice bouillabaisse under the Aleppo pines in Aix en Provence.

  8. I can see why Ischia is a favorite place! It is beautiful. He clearly led a full and amazing life, seeing the world as a part of his job. What an interesting recipe, with so much seafood! Living in an inland state (US), I won't even try to make this.

  9. Our world is made up of amazing people who will never be written about in history books, would love that sauce on linguini !

  10. Nonostante sono vegetariano, io mangio un po' di pesce a qualche volte…. questo piatto sembra deliciosa – voglio provare!

  11. Enzo is wonderful! All those decades at sea and world travels! He has a beautiful outdoor kitchen and while fish is not my choice, his stew looks so appealing even I would try it. Another great episode!

  13. Next time I go to Italy, I would love to be invited to that master chef's house for that soup …….. please ?? /. La prossima volta che andrò in Italia, mi piacerebbe molto essere invitato a casa di quel grande chef per quella zuppa… per favore?

  14. It's really funny to hear a german speak with a heavy yet perfect neapolitan accent (maybe Ischitano is slightly dfferent form urban neapolitan). "Ecco, guagliò".

  15. Pro tip: put one or two slices of toasted garlic bread on the bottom of the dish, pour the zuppa over: or you're missing the best of it.

  16. it brought a tear to my eye to see this amazing man who defies age and just exudes happiness, I would be very content at the table ! Thank you Enzo, Vicky and the team, a joy as always. Ramon x

  17. I would love to try grandpa's stew! The sweetness of the seafood due to freshness, especially the squid will eventually neutralize the acidity of the sauce. Yummy!❤
