So what's swabbing the bread? Is it like running it around on your plate to soak up juices or what?
It must be a Sicilian thing, because in many other regoions it is not only acceptable, it is normal. It's known as scarpetta.
That, or it may be the level of formality of the restaurant you were in, or the event. Scarpetta is normaly at home, but it may be bad form in nice restaurants.
I'm surious to know which it is.
I would really hate her ever coming over for dinner!!
