  1. My 72 yrs old mother took offense to the notion ‘a 70 yrs old woman on roller blades’ was like seeing a dinosaur on skates 😂. Yes, she rides her e-bike daily like she’s a contestant in the Tour de France. But trust me, it’s better for everybody in the Netherlands if she sticks to her bike instead of hauling her suv out of the garage. Last week my son had a flat tire (bike) and walked the way home from school. My mom was in shock: ‘Why didn’t you call me to pick you up?’. My son just said he didn’t mind the walk. Later he admitted he wasn’t ready to die at 14 yrs old 😂

  2. Ladybird FC is da bomb! One of the owners is from Brooklyn, NY & u will find him working there most days. The other owner is from London. The fried chicken & cornbread made me cry. It was as if my grandma had come back.

  3. Hey Sky, could you make a video where you explain a bit what’s going on in the USA? Why do so many people vote for Trump? Perfectly okay if you don’t want to ofcourse, as your channel isn’t about that. But it’s so hard to understand why people are attracted to such a man for president. God bless, Nick

  4. Thank you for your positive vibes mate. In Amsterdam north is a place called Groene Veld (Green field). Welcome.

  5. In the US people need the tips too have a decent income. In the Netherlands staff gets a normal/decent pay too live and tips are an extra. Therefor maybe even more appreciated because you effectively buying them an extra beer or little gift.

  6. As a Dutch The american tipping system is weird asf to me, Everyone here gets a regular pay doing the job enough to live on… I mean why do Waiters and stuf in the US work for such a low salery that they need the tips that badly? I just wouldnt work that job The boss that sells earns money enough he can pay ya asses with it easy. Shouldnt be the customer responsibility And about the clean part, iff you get as we call it Taakstraf Then you be cleaning often my man haha its a system we use here and we also have people with payed jobs to clean the area's etc.

  7. With tipping I had the reverse experience in the usa. My wife is from there, and when we visited the first time I dutch tipped and figured out there were people going behind me to tip, haha.

  8. Hey, I’m the guy from Cincinnati that you met at Jumbo. Crazy how small a world it is. It was nice meeting you in person!

  9. I had to rewatch this video again. So funny, It was Sam's video (EXPLORING THE FOREIGN) that I first watched when I was doing my research into working/living in Amsterdam. How was it in there? I hear it's a pretty amazing black owned couple that run it.

  10. With respect to driving, the most fundamental part of good road ethics is something every Dutchie learned at a young age
"Voorrang moet je krijgen, niet nemen".
Basically, the right-of-way is something you get, not something you take.

  11. a dutchy here:

riding a bike is easy and very convenient to go around with, you can get to places a car cant!

we (usually) dont tip here, because the staff here get payed an actual wage they can live on! not like in america where te hstaff get less then minimum wage and have to pay the bills with tipping money. America has some very greedy people in my opnion!

who doesnt want to live in a clean place?! is it so bad in america that cleanlyness really is a culture shock?!

    12:35 dayum that looks gooood!!!

  12. Yes, another American who thinks it's important to voice his astonishment. Perhaps the current American culture suits you better

  13. Hey mam, I'm still in the US but I got a kinda internet friend in a band over there if you wanna go check them out…they are called Bring The Joints

  14. I really don't get the American tipping thing. Restaurants should just pay the employees enough. When I tip it is because the service was great. Not because it is a custom.

Was the service crap? No tip. And yet the waiter still gets their salary and will be able to pay the rent.

I am excellent at biking, so I guess that is true. I don't really know anyone here in the Netherlands that can't bike. I do know a few that could use some biking lessons.

  15. As a waitress I was tipped once 50 Euro. I gave it back and told them it was waaayyyyy too much. I would've felt guilty keeping that money.

  16. We do have a bit of unspoken rules about tipping. It's nice to give a delivery driver 1-2 euros tip. In a lunchroom or snackbar or pizzaria, you don't have to, of course it is nice if you do it. In a fancy restaurant it is common to give 15%.

  17. My grandpa still wrote his rollerblades and ice-skates at 88 years old. We Dutch are crazy indeed hahaha
