  1. Max you need to know the three sips rule, you aren't allowed to have any public feelings about a wine until 3 sips, both for taste acclimating and snobbiness

  2. Literally no way he can't tell the difference … just the difference between the cheapest 10 wine and like a 40 or 50 dollar wine is insane … 1k wine tastes like you don't wanna share it with anyone

  3. As a French agronomist, best advice I've heard on wine : "if it's over 50€, it's just marketing". The price of expensive wines is due for their quality, but also for their low quantity for high demand. A 25€ red from Blaye equals a 70€ red from Saint Émilion.

  4. Wine is a scam. Under blind conditions even a master sommelier can’t reliably tell the difference. It comes down to the quality of the bottle whether it looks expensive or not, how it’s presented to you and most importantly the price. Put an expensive wine in a crappy bottle and everyone will hate it. It’s all the power of marketing and suggestibility.

If you want to drink wine, buy the $20 wine.

  5. accumulate your palate to wine and you will understand. This would be like a vegan trying steaks for the first time and saying wagyu is bad and not worth the price.

  6. When I was kid I always thought wine taste is like grapes juice till I swallow among that was all different that soda is best

  7. As a wine nerd it was truly heartbreaking when he said he didn’t like the Chateau Haut-Brion at all. I’ve had it, and it’s world class stuff in my opinion (wouldn’t pay $1000 for it tho, or for any bottle at all).

  8. I like wine culture, but it’s all a big pretentious scam.

It’s easier to give a fair price to hard liquor, but wine is always about the “story & feel”.

    Don’t buy wine at restaurants.

  9. Taste like garbage must be the most expensive one lol.. it's funny how people's palettes really change after they find out how expensive something is. They think just because it's expensive it must be good. I'm not saying that's how it is here because he didn't find out until after. A lot of people think that way though

  10. I’m no wine expert, but I know the taste of the bad red. There’s no mistake. Bad whites are at least drinkable. A bad red will make you gag

  11. Yeah wine no matter the price doesn’t really stand out, it’s all got the same flavour really. The only reason why expensive wine seems “better” is because of the psychological effect of your brain interpreting more expensive means better. Basically a placebo.
Plus cheap wine is the best cause you don’t drain your bank to near 0.

  12. Like one wine pro said – its pointless to drink expensive wine if you dont know anything much about wines. You wont be able to take what that wine wants to give you. So when rich people buy expensive wine, its jsut for looks
