After a long trip, we finally arrived in Sicily and were thrilled to reconnect with family and enjoy some delicious seafood. However, our housing journey didn’t go as planned.

Initially, we found a beautiful rental villa with stunning ocean views and signed the contract. But due to unexpected circumstances—job security concerns and health issues—we had to make the tough decision to give up the villa for a more affordable, long-term solution: a ground-floor cottage.

We were ready to make it work, but just 10 days before our departure, the owners told us they could no longer proceed with the legal rental agreement.

Feeling disappointed, we prayed for a solution, and within days, we were blessed with an excellent temporary rental in Sferracavallo. While there, we planned to work with our realtor, Rosario Amato, to find a permanent place.

Fortunately, the owners of the cottage we wanted had received new information, which allowed them to proceed with the rental. They apologized for the earlier confusion, and after agreeing on the terms, our preferred home in Carini was secure once again.

Now, we’re finally settling into our new home, and we’re so grateful for the kind and generous landlords in Carini. They’ve been incredibly helpful, and we even gained a new feline friend.

We’ve also started handling the necessary paperwork, including opening a bank account and managing our car’s registration.

With most of the logistical work behind us, we’re now ready to explore and enjoy the beautiful island of Sicily.

To kick off our new life, we celebrated our first Valentine’s Day in Sicily with a delicious dinner at La Torre, where we enjoyed fresh seafood and great company.
