In today’s video, Bob Paulinski, Master of Wine goes shopping at Costco in search of what’s new under the Kirkland Signature label. Two wines from classic wine regions will be discussed and tasted, a Bordeaux and a wine from Tuscany.

2020 Kirkland Signature Bordeaux Superieur made from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, aged for one year in oak barrels. It should have good availability through much of the year. Priced at $6.99

2020 Kirkland Signature Gran Selizione from Tuscany, produced by Basilica Cafaggio, the wine Sangiovese based along with being aged 30 months prior to release. Limited availability. Priced at $17.99

  1. I like when you review Costco wines. These are wines available and affordable to the éméché populi. In my case, ivre. lol (Sorry, I do parle le francais, and love the culture and the people).

    That being said…..

Here comes a slap in the face to the French culture, LOL

The Bordeaux may be a good In N Out double double burger wine with bragging rights. Oh I always drink Bordeaux with my animal style Double Double, lol. I like to brag.

This one is going to my neighbors…..LOL. Won't you be, won't you be, won't you be my Nay Bour!

Who cleans up the corks after tasting? I love ya man.

  2. Somebody gets Bob as neighbor…….others a gang of vegan Karens in teslas collecting signatures to kick you out everytime you light up the grill… Join the K.K.K.(Keep Knocking Karen) Movement.

  3. could you please consider doing a video on how costco sources its wines. i assume they are secretive about this but any further info you could provide would be amazing. i think costco is the worlds biggest buyer of wine so im sure theres a lot of interesting info around this. and thanks for the regular costco content. i almost always find them excellent QPR esp for the more premium regions where they tend to provide good examples if not fantastic bargains. thanks!

  4. I bought 6 bottles of the 2022 Bordeax just last week. Since the vintage was strong I was betting on it being a good daily drinker. I'm afraid that Chianti Classico may have already disappeared from my closest store and i didn't buy.

  5. Another great video Bob! Bordeaux for $7 sounds great, but seeing that Sangiovese is one of my favorite grape varieties, I'm hoping that our Costco has the Chianti! Cheers!

  6. I always enjoy your reviews of Costco wines since we are only 6 miles away from a Costco. Will be headed there tomorrow. You really help all of us get the biggest bang for the buck on solid wines. Otherwise we would end up with clunkers. Thanks so much.

  7. I picked up a bottle of another Bordeaux Supérieur at Costco this weekend. Chateau Le Roudier 2020. At $5.49 this was a great value. After a few hours in the decanter it was singing.

  8. Thank you, Bob. I picked up the Bordeaux recently just out of curiosity and I was surprised how tasty it was. Like you said, it's a great, cheap everyday drinker.

  9. I'll take a look and a taste to the 2022 Bordeaux Superieur if it's available. Regarding the Chianti, they've been cutting down on their international selection outside their private labels, so no chance I'm finding it. These two regions you've picked are very spread out in terms of quality and price (and uncorrelated), so it's good to have some extra reference for everyday value. Cheers!

  10. How does Costco work with the winery to create a Gran Selezione at such a low price? That winery has 1 or 2 Gran Selezione’s priced significantly higher… Is Costco just using lower quality fruit?

  11. Hi Bob, I was wondering, would you be able to rank the following Bordeaux vintages in terms of your favorites (Bordeaux in general, not Costco Bordeaux wines). 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022?

  12. Really love your videos on quality, interesting wines that show complexity. Not sure MW expertise is necessary to decide on which $7 wine to buy? Sorry, don't mean to be snobby and honestly I'm not that way about things but there's so much more to say about and learn from tastings of interesting wines

  13. You truly are a master! I enjoy your videos very much. I actually learned something from this video that I had no idea about. That would be about the DIAM corks. I had no idea there was a difference! But the only problem I see about this is, when you are buying wine, how do you know if a cork went through the DIAM process? It would be great to know that when I'm standing there in the store looking at wine deciding between this bottle or that bottle. Is there a way you can tell? Is it on the label anywhere? Or are these types of corks only used on the high(er) dollar bottles of wine?

I'm excited to try these 2 wines now. Thanks again for another great video!
    Cheers!

  14. You buy it then, we bought a , take a guess……. Tick tick tick, are you ready ! A Kirkland Cabernet and all I can say is , “ it was wet” nothing more- there was a time…….
