In this video, I review the four worst Italian red wines I found at Trader Joe’s that you should avoid at all costs. After tasting all 23 Italian reds available, these unfortunate selections pushed me to the edge of my sanity with their industrial flavors, complete lack of character, and even dog poop aromas.

I’m Dustin, and I’ve tasted thousands of wines—my mission is to make wine accessible and fun for everyone by cutting through the snobbery and complication with honest, helpful reviews for non-wine people.

  1. I feel like you need a reference non shit wine during those long tastings to recalibrate your senses back to normal every 2-3 glasses lol. I can’t imagine the impact all that garbage would have on my palate and I’d also want to restore my faith in humanity once in a while😂
    Btw hella glassware hahaha
Edit: Some general advice to add about Italian reds: If the bottle shape is interesting STAY AWAY. Inexperienced consumers gravitate towards uniquely shaped bottles and bad producers know that. There are tons of exceptions but those are NOT in supermarkets.

  2. Another fun as hell video, well done. The Nelson Muntz laugh was great. The video did however remind me I was a little surprised about your Susumaniello grade. I've yet to try it (now I probably won't), but a couple reviewers I trust rated it well. Although, I couldn't tell the vintage you tried. Was it 2021? Maybe you had a later vintage?

  3. Dustin, you've put yourself through so much torture! You deserve a video on good quality wines, maybe go to Austin Wine Merchant and ask for their recs for best wines under $30 and blind taste that! Just to show the power of going beyond the grocery store for wine.

  4. Funny video 😂 I don’t know enough about wine to say that Italian wine is overrated or not, but I can say that I’ve never had an Italian wine that I’d buy again with the exception of a couple bottles of procseccos.
