  1. I have used Wise to pay a law firm in Italy from the U.S. The firm provided me with their IBAN (International Bank Account Number), and the name and address of their bank. You create a log-in account with Wise and provide it with your American bank account information. I never created a bank account with Wise. It just served as a currency exchange for me pulling x number of dollars from my checking account, converting it into Euros, and then depositing that amount into the law firm's IBAN. And because the exchange rate changes every day, if you have a bill to pay in Euros, you can simply tell Wise how much you want to send in Euros, and it will determine how many American dollars are needed for the exchange rate + Wise's fee (which isn't a lot). I've used it twice from the U.S., and it was very easy and worked very smoothly for me. I have also heard that it is advantageous to open a bank account in Italy to pay for things like rent and utilities, although the post office in Italy provides a lot more financial services than we're accustomed to in the U.S. Until I saw this interview, I wasn't aware that Wise could also serve as a bank account too. By the way, I recently discovered your YouTube channel and really enjoy the information it provides. Thanks so much from a new subscriber in Minnesota who is hoping to move to Italy one day.

  2. You can convert funds into 23 different currencies using Wise and withdraw cash worldwide without any foreign transaction fees in 215 countries. Funds held in your Wise account also earn interest currently 3.92% APY. and are FDIC insured.

  3. You need to be sure the landlord registered the rental contract with the commune. You need to bring that registration copy to your ERV interview with the consulate.

  4. Everyone acts like its so simple to move there but I've looked into it and its not. I dreamed of moving to Italy but was told I didn't meant the income threshold. I make just a little over 1800 per month on Social Security which gets me by in the US so I know I could get by on that in Italy. Let's be honest, You DO have to be rich to make the move.

  5. What a great guest! Grazie Mille Kathy! I keep hearing great things about Abruzzo. I’ll certainly be looking into Pineto. Ciao.😊

  6. Kathy is right about Abruzzo! We moved here in October but bought our apartment. Our electricity bill is over 100€ and gas is very expensive at about 340€ but it’s for two months. We have a bigger apartment built in 1900’s! Food is cheap, fresh and easy to buy because of the fact we live near so many farms. Abruzzo wine and olive oil is so delicious! ❤I’m a dual citizen Italian and USA. I’ve had my dual citizenship for a long time. It took two years to get in USA. We love it here! We’re not living among Americans by choice! Learning Italian is only online.

  8. Excellent information although I too would like a link to the forums she used. I tried to download your ebook twice, but I did not receive an email link. Please advise. Grazie!

  9. We are planning to apply for the elective visa, do you know what private health insurance company Kathy used? I am having a hard time finding one; I only get international insurance. Thanks.
