The 100 Point Scoring System (from www.robertparker.com):
96-100: An extraordinary wine of profound and complex character displaying all the attributes expected of a classic wine of its variety. Wines of this caliber are worth a special effort to find, purchase and consume.
90 – 95: An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. In short, these are terrific wines.
80 – 89: A barely above average to very good wine displaying various degrees of finesse and flavor as well as character with no noticeable flaws.
70 – 79: An average wine with little distinction except that it is soundly made. In essence, a straightforward, innocuous wine.
60 – 69: A below-average wine containing noticeable deficiencies, such as excessive acidity and/or tannin, an absence of flavor or possibly dirty aromas or flavors.
50 – 59: A wine deemed to be unacceptable.
The year has just started, but I have already decided what I will drink in 2025. There is still room for some spontaneous discoveries, but I recently went through my cellar and selected some bottles that I want to, need to, and have to open this year. Let me take you through the lineup to explain to you which wines I want to explore in 2025 and why I think it is time to pop the cork.

I can come and help you drink some of it Konstantin if you need!
Hey Master, if you need help finishing any of those bottles, I’ll be happy to make the sacrifice! This year, on my son’s 21st birthday, I will open and share with him (and the family) one of the bottles that I purchased long time ago to commemorate his “vintage”: 2004 Ch. Pontet Canet, 2004 Ch. Latour or 2004 Ch. Mouton Rothschild. Which one would you recommend? Cheers 🥂!
2 hidden gems in Alsace:
– Hebinger (Hengst)
– Ruhlmann-Dirringer (I believe it's only Dirringer now)
I'm from South Australia. Two wines I'm going to drink this year are: 2022 MMAD McLaren Vale Shiraz. My favourite critic said that every South Australian Shiraz maker should taste this wine, so I'm going to drink one bottle to see what the fuss is about. The second is the 2022 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon. Also got a good rating so I'm going to try one bottle.
I have about 60 bottles, nearly all exclusively high alcohol full bodied reds from the new world (yes I have a type). I've massively cut down on my drinking since I left the wine industry and I honestly only see opportunity to drink through my wine by hosting plenty of dinner parties over the next few years.
NY wine? I’m boycotting all American wines!
Such great variety in your plan for 2025. Good to find a kindred spirit!
UBE UBER ALLES!!!
2005 Leoville Poyferre and 2005 Le Gay are in my plans. Not sure what else, but definitely those. Probably throw in a 2010 Barolo.
La désinvolture du cancer bravant l'OMS, essayez d'annoncer le cannabis avec autant d'enthousiasme ? 😉
I have a 1988 Leoville Barton. Will also open this year. Not sure it was a great vintage..but nevertheless looking forward to opening it 🙂
Love your recognition of the Finger Lakes Region!
Hi, if you like Clos Cibonne you have to taste the Clos Cibonne Rosé cuvée Caroline. The vinification is more complex and the result is awsome. The best rosé i have ever tasted so far. Cheers.
Ps : if you come in Bordeaux i have some in my cellar 😉
You mentioned you are curious to revisit your tasting notes on one of the wines. What do you use to take structured notes? A word doc/excel or something more predicable for eg when on the go (cellar tracker?) thank you!
Lovely selection! Would really like to try Clos Cibonne and more Spanish whites as well. But where’s the sparkling wine?👀 I’d drink RM any day of the week🍾
Very enjoyable! I have 1999 Clinet to open and various Pomerol
Love this episode. Because it hits on the reasons why we wine geeks drink wines. The interesting people and stories and places that are connected to these wines. Half of my 400+ bottle collection is based on a story or a person or a region I visited. My favorite bottles to drink are the ones that connect me back to a region I visited. Thanks for sharing your stories about your collection.
Had a wild and throughly enjoyable German chardonnay by the Bland Brothers a few years ago but German Chardonnays are sadly like unicorns in the U.S.. Excited to visit and taste in the Rhineland this summer. Hermann Wiemer! <3<3<3 Agreed on Spanish whites and fortified wines thank you for many great recommendations!
Wow another great video
I want to some Alsace wines
Greetings from Sydney Kon. I think you'll enjoy the Ochota Barrels Fugazi Grenache. Drinks a little like a pinot noir. I haven't tried it for quite a few now although I remember it being very interesting/complex light and delicious. Keep up the great work!
Konstantin! You should really try the wines of Domaine Goepp, Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr 2021 is a fantastic wine. It is electric and really on point now but I think it will also shine with some aging. Their other wites like the Savagnin Rose are also very good!
Ps; The wines of Hofgut Falkenstein are also really worth trying
Its great to see the Finger Lakes and Tokaj and Hungary getting some well deserved attention. Great video and thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Would love to see you try one of the reds from the hot potato Kei Shiogai. Interesting producer, philosophy, history etc.. His wines seem to polarize people on the widest spectrums on IG and CT. Lots meat on the topic from neal martins 84 score on his BB 2022 to wine hype in general.
Habe mir vorgenommen dieses Jahr nur Weine mit Schraubverschluss zu kaufen😂
i`ve tasted the rosé from clos cibonne and also the cuvée spéciale. It was a 2020 rosé, tasted in 2022, good stuff :).
I used to live just a few Kilometers away from Sauska (Villány) and also tasted some of their wines. There I found out that the actual pronounciation is „Schauschka“. Besides others I really liked the A. Gère Kopar. Hungarian wine has much to offer.
Lots of fun to watch! Furmint from Burgenland (Austria) can be superb; look for Wenzel. They also make superb chardonnay (Kollwentz Gloria). I loved Albillo wines when in Madrid; the easy way to divide them up is: 1)steel fermented, fruity and made to drink young; 2)steel fermented, left on the lees for 6+ months, creamier; 3)wood aged.
I have too many bottles to think about which were left too long in my cellar; I now make superb vinegar from them! Highly recommended.
Hey dude, what do you use to log all your wine notes?
I like wine from deiss, but altenberg is weird for me, the sugar inside is disturbing me
Whoa did not expect to see Ube ! It’s an amazing little wine.
2009 Joseph Phelps Insignia for me this year! I've almost opened it a number of times…
