A friend and I visited a very upmarket restaurant for lunch today. (It’s an occasional treat for us as a girls’ lunch!) We are both happily married to our husbands, but we both enjoyed seeing male customers not dressed like slobs, but smart. We were both smart casual: tailored trousers and good sweaters with formal shoes and delicate jewellery. A decent establishment deserves respect, as much as the establishment must respect their customers.
