A fifth-grade classroom in Philadelphia got its first fine dining experience to practice etiquette they had learned back at school. It comes after their teacher, Patrice Lamar-Bey, staged an Italian restaurant in her classroom for a lesson that went viral. NBC News’ Rehema Ellis has the story.

Great teacher!!!
In Japan, teaching etiquette, nutrition and having a job in the classroom to serve and clean is part of education. I think it’s important to teach this. The teens at my public high school act like animals at lunch, (I volunteer there). Manners are a way of showing respect for others, and unless they see peers participating, it just becomes a family hassle of formalities. Community lessons matter! ❤❤❤❤
Excellent, great lesson for children. Nothing worse than sitting next to someone leaning on their elbow and shoveling food into their mouth. And yes, I've seen adults that eat like horses at a trough. These kids looked great! Thank you teacher!
Blessings to Capital Grille🙏🙏💖!
This is beautiful to see! I’m so glad there are teachers like her.
right out of the wire lol
this is awesome. these are valuable skills to have in work parties and networking events. this teacher is breaking down barriers for her students.
Awesome teacher
Shows respect!
Great teacher❤
That’s awesome! Great teacher but even the restaurant owner! 4000 dollars “down the drain” is no joke for someone rich or not! Loved all the super kind interactions from everyone!
What a beautiful segment.🥺
More young Americans need this. This will reduce Karen vidoes throwing tantrums at cafes counters. 😂😂😂
awesome!
I can't even afford to eat at Capital Grille 😢😂
Wonderful. Magnificent.
Curriculums around the world are NEGLECTING
to prepare children properly for the world they face.
Hats off to this woman’s innovation and teaching from a compassionate, grounded soul.
❤❤❤
I need this.
I didn’t know America had teachers without pronouns 😂
This is wonderful! I grew up going to classes like this when I was younger. Trust me it comes in handy when you’re in the real world and in these spaces! Keep up the good work!
Wonderful!! Thank you Capital Grill.
This was so good to see. Children need this. Proper etiquette should be taught. Also glad to see the ones that dressed up to go or able to do (not all Children are able to.)
How every teacher should be!!! 💙👏👏👏👏
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
For the record, The Capital Grille in Cherry Hill, NJ (suburb of Philadelphia) makes weekly donations of beef ends (a huge amount) to a local food pantry where I volunteer. We cut it up and bag the pieces to give to our clients.
This is cool, but why dont we teach about credit. All the adults in the comment section how often do you use fine dining ettique?
I love this so much!! I experienced fine dining because I attended Charm School and my great-grandma and her friends took me to a five-star restaurant.
That is so cool
This is how you build students to become great individuals, by taking them on activities beyond the classroom and making them feel special about themselves. We need more teachers like Miss Bey.
GOD BLESS HER, THE KIDS AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED
Although I read Emily Post as a child, I didn't experience fine dining until I was an adult. I introduced my daughter and granddaughter to fine dining by the time they were five.
Yes bring back manners and etiquette.
"What a waste, to have a taste, of things that can't be mine".
Where can you send donations to?
This is everything!!! God bless her❤❤
Ms.Bey this nation and world needs more teachers like yourself ma'am. May God give you many years on this earth.
I remember learning about table etiquette in high school Home Ec class. I think it's good that they're still trying to teach these skills.
Awesome this the real news 🤓
God Bless this Beautiful teacher! 🙏
Something tells me the teacher took this from Season 4 of TV show 'The Wire'…
Kudos to Miss Bey for teaching these kids a dying art ❤
Charlotte Hawkins Browns book "The Correct Thing to Do, to Say, to Wear."
future looters
I remember we drew the plates and utensils back in elementary school. 😁
Never learned fine dining so even today i dont go to fancy restaurants, aside from the fact that i cant afford it. 😂
Love this. I also think that anyone could find themselves in a position of having an interview over coffee or something, and it's good that they would know how to "act".
