One of the most hyped up restaurants in all of NYC right now, and if not restaurants overall definitely considered one of the best pizzerias in NYC right now, is Una Pizza Napoletana. Una Pizza Napoletana in NYC is now not just famous in NYC, it’s world-famous! That’s because an Italian pizza publication called 50 Top pizza ranked Una Pizza Napoletana as the No. 1 pizza in the entire world! Yes above all of the best pizza in Naples and above all of the best pizza in Italy. It’s not just NYC’s best pizza, they consider Una Pizza Napoletana the best pizza in the world!
That is really high praise and because of that, reservations at Una Pizza Napoletana are now extremely few and far in-between. However, I heard that getting in as a walk-in is possible if you get there super duper early. So I trekked over to Una Pizza Napoletana in the Lower East Side before they opened to try what is hopefully one of the best Neapolitan pizzas in NYC, if not the world! Let me see if I can answer the question of is Una Pizza Napoletana worth the hype or the question of Una Pizza Napoletana overrated? We will find out together! There aren’t many offerings at this haunt, but we will try a few items from the Una Pizza Napoletana menu and also see if the Una Pizza Napoletana pizza lives up to the hype or not.

Soggy gooey mess, that pizza looks disgusting
"Real" mozzarella is too high in moisture and I promise, it cannot ever be cooked out in time before the crust is a charred frisbee. That is the only lesson from this one. If you go the route of the Napoletana… try some other variants with fun ingredients. There's a reason why Portnoy doesn't grace these with an 8 or more!
Maybe the oven got too hot and it charred up quickly and didn't hv enough time to cook properly …..

Neapolitan is my least favorite pizza style by a mile. The interior is a soggy watery mess. Cornicione is nice bread but doesn’t make it a good pizza.

It's a hype place–I can smell hype a mile away. A good Neapolitan pizza is not soaked underneath. Come back to New Haven and try Zenelli's which is also on Wooster St. and highly rated for that area.

Perspective! Neapolitan is a completely different style of pizza than New York style pizza! Try a pizza that you know of and think you’re gonna like.
Not my kind of pizza at all, but I had this kind in Italy quite often so I guess many Italians prefer this style.
Neapolitan pizzas are not very good to begin with. I would take a dominoes or papa johns any day

Napoli style pizza is supposed to be soupy like that. Go to Naples and you'll see that's how they make all types of pizzas there.
I expected almost exactly what it looked like. Those style pizzas are always soupy like that. Good, but not great. I looooove the look of those new haven pizzas, but have never gotten the chance to try it

I'm not into Neapolitan style. I like crispy Pizza.. NY style or New Haven Style. Best Pizza in the world IMO is Johnny's Pizzeria in Mount Vernon.

Best pizza ever was in Rome, thin and not crispy at all, but in no way wet or soggy
That thing is sloppy wet. The outer crust looks decent. Those big gobs of fresh mozz have a LOT of moisture in them.
That looked disgusting, and margehrita pizza is the worst pizza in the world in general.
I have seen a better pizza from hungry howies, and that only cost 10 bucks.
