Eat where the locals eat on the French Riviera! Anja & Aila have picked an interesting mix of 5 great restaurants in NICE, France, with delicious Mediterranean cuisine. You’ll get to see hidden places as well as tourist spots, including a traditional restaurant serving the local “socca” as well as a typical French crêperie – which isn’t typical for the South at all, but France is not France without its crêperies… Bon appetit!

  1. Dear Aila & Anja, I live in Nice but have never eaten at "Le safari" before. Thanks to your video we gave it a try last night with our kids and friends and we all really enjoyed great food, a really nice waiter & good service. Thanks for your advice! 🙂

  2. I love your channel. I am from NYC and mainly like to go to SE Asia for vacation, but in Europe, Nice is my #1 city to visit.

  3. Just realized we're talking about "ananas" in this video… that's French and German for "pineapple"… in case you were wondering what the hell Aila is trying to say there 😂
PS: there are many more vocab and grammar mistakes, we know, please forgive us!!!

  4. I went to No 3, le Safari in early evening so I don’t need to wait. Octopus carpaccio ❤, dessert I have lemon meringue tart, it is soft sponge with tart, lemon ice cream (not sweet must be homemade) and raspberry sauce. Thank you for your video!

  5. A potential video idea that would be very interesting to watch: what are some of the courses or educational opportunities in and around Nice? This could be summer courses (e.g. cooking or art or language, etiquette) or longer-term going to school there! Reason I'm asking is: When I was 13 on vacation in Nice, my Mom came across a little Lycee run by a very wonderful French lady. I met her and would have very much liked to study there (…aber meine Mutter wollte mich dann doch nicht so ganz aus dem Auge lassen, ganz allein in Nizza. Ich dagegen haette es liebend gerne gemacht.)

  6. Please dont pretend to be a reporter that voice is very offputting we cant concentrate on the great content that you provide!

  7. “And I ordered pasta with pesto” a classic as you call it. And you cut it with a knife. Your barbaric and in an Italian restaurant you would have been killed.

  8. The creperie does unfortunately not exist anymore 😢. It was a goodplace indeed.the salad nicoise you had atthe Safari was indeed very average. The genuine salad nicoise should be tomato based… no mesclun in theory. Most restaurants served it with lots of mesclun, because it is cheap and create some volume.

  9. Sorry but I can’t accept restaurant recommendations from one who cuts their pasta with a fork and knife 😅😂

  10. I live in Nice and these are not the restaurants where locals go to eat. There are places we go for lunch every day and others to celebrate a birthday. Giving away the real spots would spoil everything for us, so sorry I won't.

  11. It was so fun running into you at Le Safari recently. The fact that you went back there for dinner shows that it is not just a tourist spot. I can report that I had probably THE BEST fried calamari of my life that night! So very light breading and melt in your mouth texture- I never thought I’d ever say that about calamari, which so often is chewy. I loved our visit to Nice and if/when we go back we’ll definitely eat at Le Safari again (and maybe run into you again 😂)

  12. Hi. Love you videos. We plan to get the lignesdazur 7 day pass. Besides Nice, will this include ville franche Sur mer, eze and the other day trip towns you mentioned in your other video? Which ones specifically? Thanks.

  13. Hi Anja & Aila! We are Pavel & Edel from California. We have been watching your videos and we really enjoy them. Thank you for so much helpful information! 🙂 We are going to be for 4 days in Nice at the end of August, but we arrive on a Sunday. We have heard that many restaurants and shops are closed on Sundays. Could you please guide us on places to go to eat on that first day? Thank you so much! Blessings to both of you <3

  14. Le Safari was the worst experience in Nice. Foturnately, I did not know it from you. You just need an update 🙂

  15. Thanks for telling us about Monaco. Now I feel as if I have being there in real life. Have a good day from Utah, USA.

  16. chez Pipo the must ! La meranda absolument y aller …. Le Safari tr´s touristique mais une adresse typique de Nice Acchardio rue droite …. il faut y allez

  17. 'NICE' (Bella Nizza!) , MONACO, MONTE CARLO and CORSICA should have remained with Italy… They will always retain their original ITALIAN ambience…most all the names of cities and towns in Corsica are still in Italian. Doesn't matter if they are in France. Napoleon , Garibaldi, the Grimaldi's, The Medici family of Florence (birthplace of the Renaissance) were Italian. They are cousins no matter what…just the language is different…the French language rose from the ashes of the Roman empire. JOHN CABOT another Italian explorer (real name: JOHN CABOTO) secured much of what is now Eastern Canada for the British. FRANCE has always benefited from having countries like Italy, Spain, Germany as neighbors.
