So here i am, sailing from Malta heading towards Barcelona. Today i will be on board MSC Grandiosa for the whole entire day.
Whatever happened to Day 4 ? well, i was in Malta, enjoyed my short excursion down to Mdina Glass factory in Valetta. My microsd card decided to go crazy on me and i kinda lost all my videos and pictures on this excursion. So yea, i feel shitty as it is, but hey, that’s luck. At least i have my other videos.
On board the ship, we spent the entire day roaming around, taking pictures, going to the waterpark at the top deck; Deck 19; walked around some more, took more videos and pictures, and here it is folks, a glimpse of what’s on board MSC Grandiosa and what you can expect.
From children’s play area, to nursery, to dance floors, indoor stadium where you can opt to either play basketball or football, formula 1 simulator, bowling alley, food restaurants, shopping arena, indoor pools and outdoor pools, heated Jacuzzi, bars and drinks area, buffet areas, fine dining areas, gelato stalls, pretty much time killers.
Some restaurants are free. Common buffet area is free, this is available at Deck 15. I know this because i was staying in Deck 14. Took the stairs up to get hot water. NO, there isn’t a kettle in your room. Deck 15 is the place to be if you need hot water. The restaurants such as Tapas and Japanese at Deck 6 is not free. Prices start from €25 heading to €55 per meal. Mostly fixed menu so you don’t get to customize.
There is a restaurant down at Deck 5, which you are entitled to have your dinner via fine dining style. That is free but i prefer the common buffet area at Deck 15. They serve more or less the same thing, cept you can pig yourself out at buffet area. Quantity in the winter is important.
The pools are mostly free. They are cold as hell as it’s winter after all. There is a private pool but at Deck 17 if i’m not mistaken. For members only. Water park at Deck 19 is free as well.
Now the stuff that you have to pay, includes the arcade; which carries some crappy games and mostly claw machine cabinets. Formula 1 simulator is pay to play, VR is pay to play, Motion 3D 4D ride is pay to play, bowling definitely pay to play, The indoor arena requires a deposit depending on what you wanna do. Nursing area is pay to use. They have a caretaker for your child while u go do your stuff like making out or gamble. Oh and the casino…….it is smoking approved. I didn’t gamble coz the amount of smoke was quite unbearable for me. Even i as a smoker…..find some difficulty breathing in there.
It is black friday as you know it, so on board the ship, they brought out their stuff like watches and all, bargained rock bottom prices, and walla ! You can see some of the watches towards the end of the video. Prices were starting from €25, and they were throwing €30 for 2 even. The crowd was all concentrated there so i only got a glimpse and got out.
There is a chocolate area, it is fun. You can customize your chocolate and depending on the size, it should start from €20 onwards. I wanted to make 1, but it just wouldn’t survive a long journey back home to a tropical country.
Plenty of things to do, many stuffs to see, unfortunately the really fun ones, is pay to play or pay to use. Such a pity. Even Princess cruise is better than this. Yes folks, you heard me. As an avid cruise vacation person, i’d pay for Princess cruise or Royal Caribbean over this. Food is better at princess, activities are better at Royal Caribbean.
Aboard MSC Grandiosa, cirque du soleil is pay to watch even. Sigh. Yes i paid, and yes i did enjoy it, but was it worth it ? Kept telling myself, i’m on vacation, so i need to get the best out of it and just do what i want. Parting with some € isn’t exactly on top of my list since i’m on a cruise ship where everything should be paid for (cept specialty restaurants and casino).
So there you have it folks, Day #5 full on board the ship and a glimpse of what this ship has to offer. Sheer massive size is pretty impressive. What’s not are the pay to use + pay to play entertainments.
On to day #6 in the next video. Barcelona, Spain! Also my most enjoyable part of this WHOLE ENTIRE TRIP !
