We taste an Italian wine made from four grape varieties harvested from around Italy – Piccini Memoro Red wine.

The grapes in question are: –

Zinfandel,
Montepulciano,
Nero d’Avola
and Merlot

The four grape varieties are harvested between early September (for the Merlot) and early October (for the Primitivo).
The grapes are crushed, destemmed and fermented in stainless steel for approximately 12 days at controlled temperatures.
The Montepulciano is aged for 12 months in small oak barrels.

On the nose, a rubber note can be detected together with an aromatic smoke note.

The wine has a rich chocolatey feel with a jammy taste much like you would expect from a cabernet sauvignon.
