  1. I got 6. I knew the dishes from the Bahamas and Norway. I actually had the dish when I visited Norway two years ago, and I know a lot of the island countries cook with canned meats. I totally missed the falafel-like dish. When you suggested it was served on French bread, I thought "Vietnam" because of the French influence and that there are a lot of Indian flavors in SE Asia. But how good would a banh mi be with those?

  2. I think the Vikings would've missed the Romans by about 400 years if I remember my British history correctly but "Vikings brought the pizza crust to Italy via Cornwall" is a cute thought, anyway.

Honestly they're more likely to have brought it through Byzantium to Italy given their role in the Varangian Guard.

  3. Have any of you all had Ramps and Branch lettuce? They are lovely ingredients found in the Great Smoky Mountains.

  4. @SortedFood Seeing Mauritius represented by the people who inspired me to become a cook was mind-blowing and exciting as hell 😁Was a bit bummed when Mauritius got missed for the A-Z Global Challenge, but you guys more than made up for it with the Gateaux Piments. Cheers Lads (And Crew!)

  5. Oh my god I got #3?!?! The grits and corned beef combo put me in the Southern states, then the spice made me go lower. I'm absolutely giddy with joy!

  6. As a Norwegian, I have never heard of lefse with ham and cheese, only sweet with cinnamon/sugar/butter mix.
But then again, I dont eat it myself cause I dont like it.
I know it can be a sidedish for savory food aswell, but from what I know, not as common.

  7. Lots of fun as always, I didn't get any of them apart from, sort of, the potato pancake, which drying out and being stored, reminded me of Scottish oatcakes.

  8. Sambusa is also saudi Arabian with the same name and style. Not sure about the spices as it is the first time I hear their names. Perhaps I would have know them arabic.

  9. omg the second i heard gateaux piment I KNEW it was mauritius!! my mum is from mauritius and i loved eating these while growing up in singapore <333
