Come with us as we explore our beautiful Italian city, Vicenza! Although it’s currently mid-winter and not the most beautiful time of the year, we’re happily exploring the historic center of our city (or town for those who consider Vicenza ‘small’) and learning more about the architecture, food, and culture in the region.

Thank you for all the comments over the past few weeks sharing many insights and facts about this region. There is much to explore and learn and today’s video is step one of that for us! We hope you all have an incredible Sunday and start to your week :).

  1. Great video! Culturally we spend a long time when dining out as well as at when we eat at home. Nothing to do with the pace of the service. Normally an Italian family would have what we call PRIMO (first dish), normally a pasta based dish, SECONDO (second dish) meat or fish with some vegetables to the side and fruit. Lastly, the beloved espresso. This can take up to 1hr, 1hr 1/2.

  2. I have been to scicily years ago. It was from malta. On a catermerang ferry. We went to mount Etna. I would love to spend more time in Italy. And i love the accent and the language there. There is a film called Cabrini.. it is about an Italian nun who had to go to america as there were Italian orphans there. The americans didnt like the Italians at all. They treat tehm as though they were a different colour skin of people not nice. The nun is mother Cabrini. She was a fighter. She did so much for the orphans there in america. May be you could check the movie out. And find out how the americans were with the itslians back then .

  3. Perhaps because I am an introvert, I really LOVED Japanese culture! I liked how quiet and respectful people were. I get overwhelmed when there is a lot of lively conversation. I would probably have a harder time adjusting to Italy.

  4. I recommend visiting Verona and Padova, both just 30 minutes from Vicenza and easily reachable by train, as well as Bologna in the Emilia-Romagna region, home to the oldest university in the world.

  5. If you want some good no thrills down to earth Italian food in Vicenza, then try Righetti, Piazza del Duomo.
When we were there a few years back, I think we had 50% of our lunches there haha

  6. Well it's not the kind of "restaurant" that you can eat and go. Theese are the "trattoria" or "osteria" , the oldest form of Italian typical and regional restautant, authentic ones, where at affordable price you can find the real food of this or that region, place, city or even district. They're affordable and faster, but always get advice from locals about them because the best ones are usually away from the tourist area, and usually they are located near the hills around the cities

  7. Non penso che dobbiate avere paura dei borseggiatori a Vicenza 😂. Diverso è per esempio nella metro di Milano, Roma, Napoli, nelle grandi città turistiche. La provincia di solito è tranquilla.

  8. Vicenza is the Italian city with the most Americans citizens because there is a NATO base nearby, but the north-east of Italy is a little calm(not like Japan) because people work a lot and are quite well to do .If you go to a market in a Neapolitan or Roman square it will be much louder. We Italians are so different from region to region! 😂

  9. Your New home Town looks very pretty does it take long with the Bus ? Looks like a fairly reasonable market
Plenty of exploring to be done , plus much more Food testing 😜too 😂 .
Hope you find an other accommodation give you bit more space / cooking 🤞🙏 of course depending on whats available.
Hope you’re slowly settling in ,Tanner do you have to travel far to get to your work ?
Looking forward to the New adventures getting your selfs settled ,finding your way around etc
Have a Good week take care 🥰

  10. I'm from Austria, I've been to Northern Italy a lot and would never consider it less safe than my country. There's pickpocketing in all touristy areas in most countries, including in Vienna, I guess.
Enjoy your time in Italy, it's the best! 🙂

  11. I staid in Vicenza for a couple of months and enjoyed it. It's such a great place for travelling. Many beautiful cities, lakes (Germans love Lago di Garda) and also the Alps are nearby or at least not that far away. I had a great time there, because it was springtime and I travelled either by train or by motorbike. You'll love it there. Just be aware of the… 🤣Just kidding.

  12. 😮😍😍😍😍😍😍 beautiful 😍 Lucky you ❤ rent an apartment on main beautiful Piazza so you can avoid car / transportation 🎉🎉🎉🎉

  13. jeah , that's the reason why 👍, waiters are so slow !🤣😂 very funny . u travelled a lot but u still so american .

  14. I don't know why, but people from Vicenza are nicknamed 'cat eaters'= magnagatti. Ask them why and let us know!

  15. I’ve just made Vicenza my new home in the last year and a half and it’s interesting to watch the city from another newcomer’s pov. It’s a nice small city and a perfect home base to explore other beautiful towns in Veneto and surrounding regions. Benvenuti a Vicenza!☺️
