I can't wait to show my husband the section on Apple Pie. 😂 He (German) is appalled every time I quote "as American as apple pie." In fact his whole family claim apple pie as theirs. 😂
– Judging a cuisine like ‘'French food as a whole’’ is a ridiculous statement.
– Austria is NOT eastern France mate, Austria doesn't even border France, there's a whole country in between those two.
– I have given you a list of spices and seasoning used in Spanish cuisine a while back, which is a loooong list, proving your statements regarding European cuisines are ridiculous, yet you keep claiming Spanish and European cusines in general (your words) don't use any seasoning….
– Every American I have witnessed eating Dutch Apple Pie for the first time were mindblown by how much better it tastes as any American Apple Pie that had in the US…. I guess you haven't yet. And no; they weren't being courteous cause most of my American firends are far from polite and as direct as we Dutchies are.
– French fries are called French cause Americans (and Brits) just can't be bothered being correct on matters that aren't from the US (or UK), that's why they call people from the Netherlands Dutch, refering to Diestch or Deutsch even.
He missed where the apple pie actually came from though…it comes from strudel sugar, apple, and coriander, fairly simple just not with cinnamon.

This video misses something about the croissant, it originates from the Ottomam empire. That's why the only places left where puff pastry is made the traditional way is Turkey and Greece (and in Greece the traditional way is dying out). Baklava is the dish that is far older than croissant. There are even theories puff pastry might have come from the Persian empire because the word for baklava probably has a Persian origin. The explanation of the Austrian introducing it to France is lacking a lot of background information.
Edit: lol, when MrLBoyd said sometimes you have to keep it simple when talking about Apple Pie I can hear the whole of Italy sighing from frustration because that is the exact same things Italians say when Americans make Italian dishes (Bolognese does not have garlic and pizza is not the same as bread with pasta sauce and too much cheese)

You are always telling us how we should travel and see the world outside of the three states surrounding us – but then, you always give great examples of why NOT to travel. I don't want a vacation filled with bad food. That would ruin the entire trip for me. Maybe I'll go abroad after I've seen all 50 states – which will prob be never. I'm coming up on 60 and I've been to maybe 10 states. Maybe a little more. There's plenty of diversity right here in the US to see. I don't want to spend thousands of dollars to go somewhere where I'm not liked, they take advantage of me, and their food sucks. Thanks, MrLboyd, for saving me from a terrible vacation. Best apple pie I've had was on North Pender Island, BC, Canada, but that may just have been because I was young, back packing, malnourished and ate a monster portion 😂 Being uK based I have plenty of good foody options to me but I find home made low and slow is the best, followed closely by cooking wood fired neapolitan pizza, also at home😂 eating out is expensive and often falls short👍

I'm with you the best french fries ive had though are in Germany and Belgium so no coincidence there with the that.
Only time I ate frog legs was at my uncle's house in Ohio, umm he made a feast back in the 80's going out into the forest and killing everything… Yaaas, venison was on the table and "there might be pellets" when it came to the duck.
