I have a confession about Milanese food… I didn’t love the food we ate in Milan. I wasn’t blown away and everything was average. We went to some really nice restaurants in luxury hotels and on michelin guide’s but idk I guess I had really high expectations. Let me know what you think?!

Need to go to Tuscany or Bologna for great food!
What do I think : well your video is very nice but without being nasty how can someone who drinks capuccino while having food or Fanta (sic) or a cocktail during dinner can properly judge food ? Frankly start applying some good food habits before judging…you drink cappuccino at breakfast, a cocktail before or after a meal and you never drink Fanta !
I think educating on the cultures of how they eat in Milan & researching on the cuisines of the area can really help you plan for better meals on a trip! Something to note is that a lot of the time, these restaurants cater more to the tourists and don’t bother putting their heart & soul into traditional Milanese foods so more often than not, you end up having really subpar food. Definitely need to research for the places that still love what they do, because Italy is such a hugely visited country (even more so Milan). Hope this helps!!
The best restaurants are not in the city (centre).
Paper Moon is definitely a must-try
I've had great food in Italy ….
You are from USA ….
CLUELESS about great food and the best way to eat it
I happened to watch your video out of curiosity to hear Asian/American opinion on Milan's food and see if you have my same opinion.
Well… first Milan is the capital of Italian fashion that means people are better dressed, on average slimmer than Italians in other regions, which is reflected also on the plates which are more beautiful with smaller portion and a little bit overpriced.
It's obvious that Milan is not the place for foodies, so if you go to Milan to eat, you will be disappointed.
The typical Milan plates (risotto con ossobuco alla milanese and cotoletta) are nice but it's nothing compare to what other Italian regions can offer. When I moved from Parma to live in Milan, I was quite disappointed because food quality is generally lower and more expensive.
I saw that you went to luxurious restaurants but most of them are for rich tourists, who, either think that going to expensive places guarantee you to eat well, without realizing that most of price includes brand name, central location and better service, either are mostly searching exactly for these last three qualities.
Milan has certantly nice places to eat but you need to search…
It has been almost 5 years since I lived in Milan but when I was there I liked eating in these places:
1. "Zio Pesce" for seafood (there are two restaurants in Milan)
2. "El Porteño" for steak (it's an Argentine restaurant)
3. "G.B. Bar" for a fast break with a nice panino in Duomo – the place is small and not high-end but the panini are the best I ate in Milan
4. "Marchesi 1824" for the pastry. I have to be to honest, I tried this pastry for the brand as Marchesi is quite famous in Italy but I returned back because I like it.
There are some other places but I don't remember the names and there might be more good places that I haven't been.
However, if you want to experience some real Italian food experience, don't go to Milan😅
P.s. I tried Babà in Naple and I didn't like it so I would be surprised if you like the one in Milan 🙃
I’ve been to Rome and the food was delicious
Iced cappuccino for lunch 😂
Beautiful video and beautiful shots, but I’m sorry …. I have to tell you! you have no taste buds! You went on 5 stars restaurants, and Michelin stars and you complain about the food?
I haven’t been lucky enough to taste those so expensive and stared restaurants, but I guarantee you that to have Michelin stars it takes a lot of effort and perfection!
Maybe it’s not your taste, but you cannot criticize those kind of chefs!
For your next trip to Italy, my suggestion is to go to the simple Trattoria and you will taste the food that we have every day, that made Italy and Italian food so famous in the world!
Nice video, we'll be there from Zurich by train next week and to Florence…btw, they would hate us to pronounce "Pistacchio" wrong ch = K sound, so it's Pistakio
Terrible video. I live in Milan and you need to pick locations for normal people
I feel this sooo hard! The only place in Italy that had food that impressed me was Emilia-Romagna. Everywhere else felt…underwhelming, at least to my expectations. I feel like the quality wasn't too different from what I was used to in LA
I’ve been to Milan twice and the food hasn’t been the best, I’ve def had better food in Rome. But then again, I never left the city center. So I can’t judge. Nice video!❤
Not sure why going to these luxury places close to city center. They all look fancy and all, but they are not focused on delivering a great, affordable meal.
I lived for 6 years in Milano and trust me there are great places out there.
However I would agree with others in the comments, other places in Rome/Tuscany and further south will completely blow you away, as long as you move a bit further from the standard tourist restaurants
