To make these courses extra festive, we invited the 10-year “Stadhuiskoor” from Utrecht. In 2019, it performed “King Arthur” several times under stage direction of Bas Keuning and under the musical direction of Paul Krijnen. We invite members of other choirs to join them. This collaboration will lead to a performance of excerpts from this famous opera by Henry Purcell. Other (choir) singers can join.
If you (also) like to sing a solo, we ask you to do an audition by submitting an audio fragment with a Purcell aria (before 1 April 2020). But it is always possible to only participate in the choir. It is important that all singers study and know their parts by heart. It is not necessary to sing or play along with all music; we can adjust the amount to what individual musicians can handle. It is mainly about taking part and not primarily about the result or the quantity.
The teachers at Accademia Amsterdam offer a small musical reception on Tuesday. The program consists of instrumental (dance) music from Purcell and other English composers of his time.
On Saturday there will be a performance in one of the most beautiful and famous halls in Perugia. On Sunday we want to organize a concluding performance at the monastery courtyard of the ceramic town of Deruta (15 km from Perugia). Before the performance we organize an excursion and we can admire the beautiful majolica and we get an explanation about the history and the creation process.
We will be a guest at the well-known festival of and for amateur musicians: “Musica dal Mondo”, which takes care of part of the beautiful performance locations.
The music courses consist of
• voice coaching for soloists
• optional voice coaching for choir singers
• direction rehearsals for singers and dancers
• dance rehearsals
• instrumental coaching for the accompanying instrumentalists
• tutti rehearsals with singers, dancers and instrumentalists.
Painters can work on themes from the opera or even make masks or small props. Results of the cooking course can be presented on the festive buffet or one of the dinners on the terrace.
