I saw a sign for Detroit Style Pizza in Phuket Town, Thailand. Then I read the reviews. 131 5s on Google. How can this be? I had to try it. I was not disappointed ! Amazing pizza and what a back story. The owner has never been to Detroit. He is an Aussie.

Living in Australia I have never had a Detroit Style Pizza. Staying around the corner from MODO in May so definitely trying it. People say you should only eat Thai food when in Thailand 555.
I eat a lot of Thai food but some of the best burgers, pizza, Italian, steaks, western breakfasts etc I have ever had was in Thailand.
Can't wait to try it!

I'm in Ao Nang, and there is a pizza resturant here, that makes the best pizza I have ever had. It's called Caesar's Pizza.
Googled Buddy's at Six Mile in Detroit- On Maps… Appears closed as of a least October 2023…. a tragedy for deep dish pizza lovers, everywhere 😥

As a New Yorker, Detroit style isnt my favorite, but that looks amazing. Monterey Jack on Pizza? Interesting choice. Will definitely try next time in Phuket

The only pizza I have had in Thailand that I like is a New York Pizza in Pattaya. As I live in Bangkok, I only get it a couple time a year. My all time favorite is Massey's Pizza based in Columbus,Ohio. They are an Ohio chain and they have won the peoples choice award for many years running. I want a simple thin crust pepperoni and cheese pizza. The worst part in Thailand is the very poor quality pepperoni or the attempt to use salami and call it pepperoni. Perhaps, I will give this a try when I next visit Phuket.

Great find Greeny. Now I have a new reason to go back to Phuket. I made a great Chicago style deep dish last night but, pieced it together with stuff I could find at either, Tops or Villa. Wish I could get my hands on some San Marzano here in Jomtien.
I am a retired Detroit Public Schools teacher, and i have been to numerous places in Thailand over many years. I have also traveled to every county in Southeast Asia except Brunei. I have eaten pizza in every one of these countries and have never encountered anything like this magnificent pizza. I grew up in Highland Park during the 50s–60s. I still go to to Loui's with my old friends sometimes, Buddy's has lost the quality that they once had. The next time you return to the Detroit, be certain to go to Como's in Ferndale. You have probably eaten there and probably think that it is very mediocre. However, under new owners they created a Detroit pizza that is amazing and has the same perfect crust that your pizza had this evening. In 2020 I was on one of the last flights out of Thailand. I had just completed a long circuit through Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. I am in Goa, India now and find it to be quite pleasant since so many Indians are going to Thailand leaving Goa relatively uncrowded. Thanks for a great video–it made me feel hunger.
