It's going to be hard to drink down my collection…when I continue to buy these wines you recommend…lol😮
The wines and cigars just keep getting better 😂
I think I’ve already exhausted all the superlatives in the world, over the past how many years, in praise of your content and in support of your channel. For this video, I’d like to thank you for yet another outstanding list to guide my wine-shopping. I have Muga Reserva and Gran Reserva as cellar defenders, and I’m cellaring a Janasse bottle from my winery visit in the N. Rhône. Very useful and helpful list! Cheers, John!
Is that Nice?
Here in Norway we have monopoly stores that sell wine with strict regulation, they have some old stock of Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 2016 selling for only 170$ including tax, the 2018 is only 160$ and the 2020 vintage is 225$, out of these 3 vintages based on price and ratings what should I pick up?
I think 2023 La Conseillante futures are the best value in 2023. I might have over paid for the 2023 L'Eglise Clinet but I wanted some good Pomerols. I also picked up some very good value wines in my opinion but I don't want to mention them because I don't want the price to go up.
Great video! 👍
Great list! I will be in the Alto Adige in a few weeks. I will bring some Terlan back. Any other suggestions from around there?
Forman Cabernet!
Based on the quality of your contents, you should have much more subsribers. But at thw same time I don't want it because then it will increase the price of the wines😢😂
Yes I think that we have agreed before that Belair Monange is formidable value- and I am still very much of that opinion ! Muga is also sensational value.CNDP, other than Rayas and a couple of other producers, is another of my favourites in the value stakes. I was fortunate enough to have a bottle of Rayas over the festive period and much as it is not easy on the pocket it is sensational. Another great video. Many thanks.
"A month ago, I had the opportunity to taste a Piu Belle, 2018 vintage. It proved to be a great blend with fruity aromas, leather, and wood, strongly showcasing its terroir."
Great video! About the Muga recommendation I'm sure it's a great wine,(haven't tried it yet), but in general i find the 2020 vintage much better in Rioja than the 2019. I find the 19 alcoholic and one dimensional, and the 20 elegant and complex, but as always there are exceptions of course. Talking about Muga, The Muga crianza 2020 is a 20€ wine that offers exceptional complexity for a very reasonable price.
As usual thanks for your great service, highly appreciated, and happy new year!
Totally agree on the Muga. I enjoyed a bottle last year so much that I bought a couple more. Excellent value.
Thanks for another great video, John. I’ve added the Muga Rioja to my list of wines to try this year. Fortunately, I’ve already found it online for only $40. Safe travels. Cheers!
Well done! Thanks and much appreciated 😊
Thanks, John. You have done us all a great service here.
I find 50 for Milla Cala too much. I'd rather go for a Catena Alta for South America.
My favourite video of the year! What a great list of wines! This year will probably be an in between for me, I probably won't go so hard into the primeur season this year. Maybe try some lesser known grapes? On my list this year is schioppettino, sagrantino, godello and perhaps I can get a hold of the elusive rioja rosé from R. Lopez de Heredia… Have you tried any rare grapes that you enjoyed?
Thanks for another great video 🍷🙂
Why does the 1966 Cheval Blanc say "Red Burgundy Wine" on the label? Is that just how it was done back then?
Great list Mr. Jackson.
As soon as he mentioned "impressive" wine spectator scores i stopped watching!
What a hack!
I think I will opt for the Belair-Monange 2022: this looks very promising!
I tasted Petrus 2004 a few years ago. Not bad, but I enjoyed Hosanna and a few other from Moueix just as much…;-)
Thanks!!!
One theme of your channel is that there might be a neighboring winery to a very sought-after one, and that lesser appreciated winery can be a good value. Can you tell me more about that? Is that because the terroir is similar?
Hello John and happy new year ! I am back from Houston and bought some Dana Estates VASO cab sauv, a few Schild Moorooroo Shiraz , and some wines from obscure regions like Moldova, Crete, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Turkey. My birthday is in a couple of days and I want to buy myself a present and was thinking about 6 Belair Monange but I am not sure if I should order the 2018 or the 2020 vintage. Both are almost the same price but I have to buy the 6 of the same vintage, so thats why I am not doing 3 and 3. WHich vintage should I aim for ? The fuller, richer, more hedonistic the better for me.
John,
Any wine festival this years?
Sanjsy
Nice. I've been buying the 2022 red and white (especially Chablis) Burgundy vintage hitting the shelves.
I've got a question Master. When you are speaking of low yields and dry soils, in which I guess the wines will "suffer" a little in terms of drought. Do winemakers add additional water to their wineyards or the wines only need to live with the water which they will recieve from rain? I'm curious to know that. As well I wish you a happy new and successful year 2025. May all your wishes come true and in the meantime I hope you will always have a good glass of wine nearby ✌️ Cheers
