B&B Bacialupo, which literally opens its windows onto the many vineyards that surround it, is located on one of the most gentle hills of the region Oltrepò Pavese. A fertile area which is located between the provinces of Piacenza, Alessandria and Pavia, north of the Po River, and a few kilometers from Milan. It is a region rich in centuries old historical, cultural and gastronomic traditions and offers many interesting outdoor activities.
We are Sarah and Federico, Dutch and Italian, with two daughters, Sophie (9) and Madelief (7), and one son, Sebastian (1) and in 2013 we found our dream farmhouse. A beautiful house with a garden, surrounded by a panorama of such charm that it seduced us into making it into a B&B!
Our B&B can offer two double rooms, “Le cementine” and “La mansarda“, and two apartments “Il Torchio“ and “Le Vasche”, all with bathroom, free Wi-Fi connection and furnished with antique furniture and renovated with natural and old materials. The apartments have also a little private livingroom with kitchen.
Bacialupo, Kiss of Wolf, is located at the foot of the ancient castle of Montecalvo Versiggia dominating the top of our hill. The name of our house dates from 1692 according to the history of Montecalvo Versiggia. The house is of stone and, out of respect to its special characteristics, is almost completely restored with natural materials, recycled wood, stone and terracotta.
This region comprises an area bordering with Lombardy, Liguria, Piedmont and Emilia Romagna, where the landscape, the culture and the history of those counties form a unique blend.
The hilly region is characterized by a relatively dry climate in winter and an agreeable climate in summer. These local characteristics make it a suitable region for the production of grapes and delicious wines.
Oltrepò Pavese offers nature lovers countless routes which can be accessed on foot, by bicycle, by motorbike or on horseback. The landscape is characterised by orderly vineyards and wild forests. There is no lack of inviting castles, pretty villages and delicious food.
In Pavese there are many activities for children to rediscover the countryside, including the source and the processing of food, through contact with nature, animals and farm life. Among these activities are outings on a donkey, visits to goats and deer farms, apicultural-, agricultural- and horticultural centers, riding schools, parks, forests, rivers and mountains, all allowing visitors to admire the animals and to enjoy beautiful walks in unspoilt countryside. There are countless special hikes for both adults and children which we gladly recommend on request.
