The 100 Point Scoring System (from www.robertparker.com):
96-100: An extraordinary wine of profound and complex character displaying all the attributes expected of a classic wine of its variety. Wines of this caliber are worth a special effort to find, purchase and consume.
90 – 95: An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. In short, these are terrific wines.
80 – 89: A barely above average to very good wine displaying various degrees of finesse and flavor as well as character with no noticeable flaws.
70 – 79: An average wine with little distinction except that it is soundly made. In essence, a straightforward, innocuous wine.
60 – 69: A below-average wine containing noticeable deficiencies, such as excessive acidity and/or tannin, an absence of flavor or possibly dirty aromas or flavors.
50 – 59: A wine deemed to be unacceptable.

The year is almost over so it is time to look back on my wines of the year – the good, and the bad. 2024 was pretty full-on as I traveled through the wine regions of Europe, gave masterclasses at conventions, and produced many videos for you guys. I tasted my way through thousands of wines and had many highlights. But I do not want to focus on the highest-scoring wines – because many of them are not available. So let’s go through my wines of the year that was.

  1. Mr.Baum,

It will be cool if you will explore the Caduceus Cellar wines (Jerome, Arizona) next year and make a video review. I'm very interested in your opinion.

  2. Condolences, Oka Baum, I would have loved to meet both him and you. I live in Denmark, so I thought it was great to hear you mention this grape 🙂 Thank you for this channel, happy holidays and stay thirsty

  12. Condolences on your father. Never an easy thing. He must have been proud to see what you’ve become. For me the best wine experience in 2024 was coming across you and this channel. Your insights and general thoughts on wine are above all interesting, informative and from what I’ve seen pretty damn spot on. Cheers to you and all the best in 25.

What a year this one was for you. So many firsts! Thanks for bringing me along. One day I hope to taste some DRC!! I love the producers in Lebanon. So many stories there and history. And current war-related adversities yet they persevere despite the many challenges.
Would love to meet you and taste some vinos together at some point.Perhaps a trip to beautiful British Columbia and the Okanagan Valley where there is established hundreds of wineries spanning 1/2 century now making some wonderful wines worthy of your experience and enjoyment.
    Happy Holidays! -ty 😀🎄🥂

  20. Condolences, Konstantin. I wish you the greatest of strength in this difficult time.❤

On a more OT note, I have been to the finger lakes as a European and have tasted lots and lots of wine there. There’s one winery, buttonwood grove , that sells their “Frances Amelia Riesling”. Dry with 0g residual sugar but so unique and beautiful. I described the aromas as an apple and cinnamon tart with a finish that just keeps on going. Very unique and definitely worth a try when you’re there. Beautiful region.

  21. Merry Christmas Konstantin and a very happy new year ahead! I'm sorry to hear about your father and I am extending my sincere condolences. I am sure his memory and your best moments will accompany you for life, just as that bottle of La Tache. I am very happy that you shared a Greek wine among your favorites, Argyros estate produces outstanding Assyrtiko, as well as Sigalas estate! Regarding Chateau Musar, you should give a chance to their entry-level red too, Musar Jeune. A real value for money! I have tasted another full-bodied red from Lebanon, El Ixsir, also amazing. My favorite wine experience of the year was opening and enjoying a 1975 Chateau Troplong-Mondot. Cheers!! 🙂

  22. A very nice tribute to your father. ❤ If considering the Finger Lakes for Cab Franc, there are some excellent examples across the border on the Niagara Peninsula. Worth the trip. Wishing everyone Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
