  1. Clip joint, with prices so outrageous it feels like a social experiment and con. This doesn't mean the food is bad. It's not. It's just you know…pretty good, priced at 2-3 star Michelin prices. I don't know, I grew up in an Italian/Italian-American household, so paying these prices for this type of food is just insane to me, I guess. There are few, if any ingredients, on Carbone's menu that I would consider "luxe," despite the prices, nor is the preparation any better than a place like say, Bamonte's. Their very first restaurant, Torrisi Italian Specialties (which is long gone), is still their best by a mile. I used to like their sandwich shop Parm when it first opened too. Great sandwiches and fantastic fried calamari, but I haven't been to any Major Food Group place since feeling like they emptied my pockets at Carbone.

  2. The best Italian restaurant in NYC is in Queens: Don Peppe of Ozone Park. I always get the linguine with white clam sauce, baked clams, and house white wine.

  3. With those prices, soon it will be cheaper to fly to Italy and eat there

  4. With regards to the price of the cheesecake… when I went to L'Ambroisie in Paris a slice of flourless chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was I think 45 euros, and this was 7 years ago. However it was so good I have to admit it was worth it.

  5. i really wanted to try Carbone last year, but ended up at L'Artusi instead. I wasn't blown away by L'Artusi. I don't have any interest in going to Carbone anymore. I'd much rather get in at Tatiana next time I'm in NYC. Loved your review though!! 🥰

  6. I enjoy your reviews very much. I'm all for spending a little extra for a special occasion, but those prices are insane!

  7. Great video. You and your wife have great chemistry together. Could you share what the total bill came to and do they include a 20% gratuity on the bill? Thx

  8. There are tons of Italian restaurants in the NYC area that I'm sure are just as good and not having to pay
    $89 for veal parm
    $32 for a Cesar salad
    $ 25 for a piece of cake
    What a tourist ripoff trap!

  9. Will looks like the spitting image of 90s Adam Sandler. I can just see him playing the guitar on SNL.

  10. Hop over to New Jersey and eat at nearly any red sauce joint and you’ll have a meal at least as delicious… and 1/3 the price.

  11. Please STOP eating veal until you do some research on the cruelty behind the production process of what these poor animals endure…..

  12. Oh, hells no. So many fantastic old school red sauce joints in nyc where you can get 80% of the way there for way less money

  13. There must have been something in those rainbow cookies that made us go way easier on this place than they deserved with those offensively high prices. But one more thing we wanted to mention that we forgot to include in the video. When making a reservation for Carbone you need to put $50 down per person that goes towards the bill. Any unspent amount (if that's even possible) is not refunded

  14. For me, Italian-American food has never been high-end cuisine. So paying 3-star prices for food that 100 years ago were eaten by new immigrants just trying to survive doesn't seem like good value. Yes, I'm sure good technique and high quality ingredients makes a difference, but these prices are even more than true Michelin-starred places.

  15. Common guys the meat balls are my favorite there ❤ honestly I love carbone the food is amazing and unique 🙌🏻
    Nice video btw 👌

  16. For those with sticker shock, keep in mind the ambiance and service. If you can afford it, give it a try.

  17. It is a joke to charge $32 for Caesar salad, $89 for a small veal parm, etc., etc., etc. Thanks for doing a great video! But meatballs with no taste! The short order cook should be send back to Olive Garden😢

  18. Your paying for there lease on the property not for the FOOD. You can get the same meal and service across the bridge for cheaper!! Please …….

  19. $34 for a Vodka Rigatoni is absolute robbery. My neighbor Unc Vinny and Granny Tina can make the same thing, for half the price. But anyway, subs for this channel!.

  20. You pay those prices because of the groovy plates, the man making a salad, the man with the pizza cutter and the Italian music. You go to a place like this because you have money, hate money or want to impress people by going here or say you went here. Did Happy Gilmore just say "The rainbow cookies were a nice touch?" "Thanks for the $300 meal bill, here's two small cookies that cost us a quarter"

  21. For $25 for that slice of cheesecake, the staff may as well walk over to your table, lift you up by your ankles and shake your body until your wallet and all your spare change falls out of your pockets. And then steal your shoes. Absurd.

  22. Authentic New York? The Italian restaurant Rocco's that was there previously and opened in 1922. THAT was an authentic Italian New York restaurant. (unfortunately closed due to the Carbone's Torrisi team striking a deal with Rocco's landlord to force Rocco's out by charging them an obscene rent increase). Sorry, Carbone is gouging you, and everyone who walks into the place.

  23. Crazy thing is the best restaurants I've been to in my life have decent prices. I went to the French laundry one time and it was like 500 a person but worth every penny.

  24. One of the best reviews I've ever seen for a restaurant – Clear to the point and not too long, And you definitely explain one cause and effect if it's worth it or not

  25. grew up in nyc and i know many brooklyn, queens, si, bronx pizzerias also have great veal parm plates or heroes at a small % of 89 bucks. these pizzerias and the likes can have fairly decent non pizza menus.

  26. Although after seeing the prices I said: 🗣️WOW!!!, that is definitely a place you should go to at least once in your life.
Nice atmosphere, the food looks good, great customer service…perfect combination 🤷🏽‍♂️.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Wow, for another amazing food experience 💝🙌🏼

  27. You pay for the name/city dining
    You don’t go everyday
    And tourists will go once
I’ve gone once many years ago
    And that was it,,
