Welcome to Cantonese Food Recipes! Today, I’m showing you how to make Crispy Garlic Fried Ribs—a delicious and easy Cantonese-style pork ribs recipe you can make at home. These garlic fried ribs are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of savory flavors from a simple marinade.

Recipe:

1 kg Pork Ribs
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
White Pepper (to taste)
2-3 tsp Brown Sugar (or white sugar)
1 tsp Chicken Bouillon Powder
1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
1 tsp Sesame Oil
Chinese Rice Wine (a splash)
Olive Oil (a splash)
1 Egg
2 tbsp Corn Starch
2-3 tbsp Chopped Garlic
All-purpose Flour (for coating)
Cornstarch (1 tbsp for extra crispiness)

Instructions:

Marinate the Ribs: Sprinkle baking soda over the ribs, rinse, and soak to remove impurities. Marinate with salt, white pepper, brown sugar, chicken bouillon, oyster sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, and olive oil. Mix everything well and marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Prepare the Coating: Mix all-purpose flour and cornstarch for a crispy coating. Coat the ribs in the flour mixture and fry in two batches.
Fry the Ribs: First, fry at 160°C for 2-3 minutes. Then, increase the temperature to 180°C and fry for another 10-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Final Frying: After frying both batches, increase the oil heat to 200°C and fry for an additional 5 minutes for that perfect crisp.
Serve: Plate the crispy garlic fried ribs, and enjoy!

  1. I made the homemade sweet and sour sauce, hubby LOVED IT. He said it's not as over poweringly sweet like the bottled sauce and it's a hell of alot cheaper to make than buy the bottled sauces. ONLY thing he asked me to add the next time I cook sweet and sour is add pineapple chunks.

  2. I like your videos but they are WAYYY to long! I don’t know who wants to sit there and watch anything fry for 10 minutes. You could have cut this video by half.
That said, I will be trying this recipe. Please shorten your videos to the important points.

  3. I appreciate you showing how long you prepare and cook things. It helps to see the process for a lot of us. Keep up the great work and sharing your recipes with us!
