Rome once held an ancient fast-food chain! Archaeologists have uncovered remnants of thermopolia across the city, which were ancient Roman food stalls serving hot meals to-go. These establishments were popular with commoners who didn’t have kitchens at home.
A particularly well-preserved thermopolium was discovered in Pompeii, complete with colorful frescoes depicting animals and ingredients like ducks and fish. It’s proof that grab-and-go dining has been a thing for thousands of years! 🍲🍷
