I was in France to play rugby when i was a kid. This was in 2007 we travelled in a coach from Scotland. In France we pulled over at a service station and in the bathroom each cubical had only a hole on the floor about double the size of a golf hole. No toilet pan, nothing to hold for balance. You were expected to simply crouch over the hole. Surely this isn't still common in France? Then again, i didn't expect to see something like that in France in 2007. Why did the French have this revolting, medieval bathroom?
