A very warm welcome to our brand new Silversea dining guide, this time coming to you from the newest Nova Class ships in the fleet, Silver Nova and Silver Ray.
Both ships are virtually identical in terms of dining choices and venues and we’ll be basing this guide on our experiences from our ten nights on board Silver Nova, but you can expect the same exquisite dining and the same ultra luxury service on board Silver Ray.
We’ll start this guide with some of the more familiar dining venues before moving on to the venues which have been modified and enhanced for these newest Nova Class of ship.
Make sure to watch to the end to see The Marquee, a brand new al fresco dining venue exclusive to the Silver Nova and Silver Ray.
Has the dining on Silver Nova and Silver Ray evolved? Is it as good as it’s ever been? Are the new venues any good? Is the new premium dining too expensive? What did we think of the Nova Class shop as a whole for dining? All these questions will be answered in our Complete Dining Guide and Review of Silversea’s brand new Nova Class ships, Silver Nova and Silver Ray. Watch as we review every restaurant, including the new US$180 per person ‘Chef’s Table’.

We were just on Nova in Alaska for a 7-night itinerary. Overall, the ship was gorgeous, however, the food and beverage was far superior on Dawn. Kaiseki was tasteless, and the fact the ship's defacto hotel bar was a coffee shop (Arts Cafe) that doesn't serve alcohol of any kind was a huge miss for us. We tried ordering champagne at Arts Cafe and they told us it wasnt available. Dolce Vita only opens at 6pm. As such, it sits unused for a majority of the day. If a guest wants a libation during the day it becomes a treasure hunt for a bar that's actually open. The only option is then the Panorama Lounge or the outdoor Dusk Bar. Arts Café on Dawn offered a full bar and actually converted into a proper bar in the evenings.
I love soup, and while I can’t have soy, those soups at Kaiseki look so delightfully light and nutritious and artistic all in one.
I made it an important point to book Sur La Table aboard Discovery Princess. The pâté was sur la formidable. Would LOVE to try La Dame on Silver Nova. That Lobster Medallion Salad! Sign me up. Et j’aime bien du canard ! The Marquee, too, though looks like a French Winter Garden café in Paris. These have to be some of my favorite restaurants sent out to sea. Celebrity ship dining venues are a close second. Side-note. I need to try pizza with arugula. It just looks right. I can boast to those with me that this is the way it should be done… Like, the European way! Yes. That’ll awe and inspire them. I wish I discovered arugula salad earlier on in my life. It is really the most. Like sitting on the Côte d’Azur…from a high end cruise ship. Because that’s the way our kind roll, babyyyy!
If we weren't already hugely looking forward to this cruise ( Nova ) , we're giddy like excited children after watching this video. Such beautifully presented food , and I have to say beautifully filmed too Rich and Helen. You are experts at setting the mood for these ultra luxury liner. Fabulous content and essential information as usual. Thanks once again… we'll have to get some food , instead of gauping at the TV… amazing as it is. 😀❤️
Thanks ❤️ (walk with lahiru) my chanel vision our motherland attracting tourists. Please comment me ❤
Awesome video guys — two incredible ships!
Thanks for an excellent video. It was nice to see the specific daily wines available on board, Jim
I need a 3 week cruise on Ray or Nova to sample it allll. If one of these ships wasn't on my bucket list before, they are even more so now!
you have such a restful voice ❤
Wow! When the fares are this high I guess this is what you get, but honestly I’m not that much a of a foodie to want food as rich as this. But maybe someday as a treat!
Question — when you film, there are very few people usually. Do you get permission to board early? just film early morning? how do you make your videos (also you have a splendid camera eye AND likewise a splendid narrator / tour guide vocal style!)
Was on the silver Nova in April…..while the quality of the steaks were excellent, the hamburger in the Marquee was one of the worst I’ve ever had….wasn’t really a hamburger more like a seasoned meatloaf…when I mentioned it to the server, he wholeheartedly agreed with me
Absolutely excellent dining guide!!! Thank you so much for showcasing all of the options!
Many, many thanks for all your wonderful videos on cuisine. Dinner for two is our favorite part of cruising. I caught myself trying to reach into the computer screen to have myself a taste. Bon appétit.
Do you have to pay to dine? I have heard they charge for their better restaurants onboard.

Hey guys,
I’m new to the ‘vlogging world’ – I have lots to learn still. 😆
I just have to say, I absolutely LOVE watching your vlogs, absolutely first class. 👏
Honest, informative, funny and entertaining. The quality of the Audio and Video is out of this world (vloggers dream) 🤩
Excellent review, as always.
Happy cruising 🥂
Hi Rich and Helen – We watched your trip journal as well as this dining guide. (Great videos!) So, now, we're thinking of booking the Barbados to Fort Lauderdale cruise on the Ray. Would you happen to know if Silversea is accommodating for dietary restrictions and food allergies?
Just got back from Queens grill and we are looking at silver sea, all this upsell really annoys me. Also this struggling to get a table at places is frustrating. On ultra luxury I don't want hassle. At least with Queens grill we have a table. Really torn. We'll get nowhere with reservations as have no loyalty with them and will be in lowest rooms! 😂
Hello Helen and Rich. Thanks for a FANTASTIC review of the dining options on the Silver Nova and Silver Ray. It definitely helped us in booking our dining options for our up-coming cruise on the Silver Ray in Feb. 2025 (South America). As always you did a great job inmdescribing the venues and food. And the quality and professionalism of the video were top-notch. Thanks again.
What do you prefer silversea or seabourn and why? in relation of food.
Yes, it is! Oceania was more expensive, and the food wasn't great. Be grateful for living so richly.
