Some of these restaurants might not be open today, but surprisingly did manage to last several years after Gordon’s visit. Most seem to have shut down within a year, probably because of the huge amount of debt they had

the thing about most if not all of these restaraunts, you have to continually update your menu with what is the current trends, a lot dont do that, their menu sticks and they will not change them, if your menu isnt hitting, go around the town and see what is, then change your menu, the only places that get to keep old favs are the high end places that can charge ridiculous prices and even charge you for sitting at the table, but even they have to innovate and add new items while keeping old favs like beef welly.

If I counted correctly, 18 restaurants are still open today, although I would count it as 17 since one has the same name and menu but different owners. That's a LOT more than I expected.
Burger Kitchen man… I wrote an essay on it for a college English class, got an A+ lol.
I worked in the restaurant business both front of house (host, server, bartender, floor manager) and back of house (line cook, sous chef, and prep cook) from 2002-2015. While I certainly don’t have the resume or experience of Gordan Ramsey and many others. I feel confident that I have a sensible way of analyzing how restaurants operate as I’ve been involved in both successful establishments (that are still open today) to dreadful establishments that NEEDED an experienced consultant such as Ramsay in the worst way possible.
My takeaways from this video:
• GREAT idea for creating this video! Much needed and desired (by me anyway). I’ve often tried looking up a few of these places and it just becomes too time consuming…I lose interest. ) Good on you to take the time and piece this all together. I KNOW this didn’t get produced in a day or two…this took TIME! Thank you.
• Folks need to understand that Ramsay and other consultants are NOT magicians. If a restaurant is at the point of sending in a video to get on the show, it means they are basically on LIFE SUPPORT! The expectation should NOT be that most of these restaurants turn things around, stay open, and become successful. Sadly, most owners don’t like being told the truth. And when Ramsay or any consultant leaves typically what happens is things slowly slide back to the death state that preceded his visit. Just facts. One should be BLOWN AWAY by the few places that actually LISTENED AND WORKED ON THEMSELVES BOTH PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY and turned things around. For this action is nothing short of a miracle and should be applauded. I want you to understand this. I’m telling the truth here.
