  1. I also find, Orange wines can be another style that goes well with (foul)/turkey and Thanksgiving dinners.
For me, especially if they have spent time in terracotta amphora. Such as some from the Alto Adige ,North East Italy , or Croatia regions. Lite yet not.
Such as: (Vitalba Albania in Anfora)or (Foradori)

  2. I was introduced to Tannat when I visited a vineyard in New Hampshire and it was the absolute best tasting wine they offered.

  3. Absolutely LOVE the Garzon Tannat 2022!!
One of the best values I have tasted so far.
It has got that deep dark colour and intense smell of dark fruit.
On the palate, the wine is big and rich but has that beautifull complex backbone of minerality and acidity.

  4. Can’t miss with light reds for Thanksgiving! I’ll open up my FLX Riesling after dinner 🙂

  5. Geeky grape varieties. Going along with the light-ish reds maybe 100% Freisa from Notrhern Italy. And for dessert a Cour-Cheverny Moelleux 100% Romorantin. Anmything else… I might have a bottle of GRK lying around somewhere, great wine to share with beginners because they just have so many flavour profiles, not overly explicit but present. Finished my last bottle of Rara Neagra couple of days ago and that's it from the top of my head.

  6. tannat is a really excellent grape and a lot of bang for the buck. im going to buy the reserve asap. I hope you do a video on uruguayan wines. they are so under the radar. (didnt know they had a reserve)

  7. Nice video! I also enjoy those casseroles. Speaking of green, is that a Kermit? Also, no problems with putting the Coravin needle through the foil/wax? Thanks!

  8. Thanks for the video. I never would have thought of tannat for Thanksgiving, so might give it a try. Visited Stoller last year and enjoyed their White Pinot Noir. Zinfandel goes great with Thanksgiving!

  9. Hi Matt! Down Under my family enjoys Sparkling Red (an Aussie classic) with Turkey. Most of the these can be had at a cheap and cheerful price. They may be Sparkling Shiraz or any other variety or blend that is red. Celebrated my birthday last night at a French Restaurant with a bottle of Domaine Theulot Juillot Les Combins Mercurey 1er Cru 2021 followed with a glass of Chateau Ruissac with dessert. Can you do a future review of sticky whites from around the world e.g. Chateau D'quem (France) and Noble One (Australia) et al. Cheers!

  10. Soter Vineyards makes a much cheaper secondary label, Planet Oregon. Same price range as Stoller but I feel there’s more to it than Stollers.

  11. TY for listening to my feedback about more available wine options! Don't change your content though for the normal videos, I think most of us still love the unique finds

  12. Once at Thanksgiving I served a Lambrusco, and everyone loved it. Of course,it was served slightly chilled.

  13. Of all the bottles I have taken to Thanksgiving, the one that worked the best, and the only one I can remember, was a big ripe soft Aussie Shiraz. Crazy, huh?

  14. Great suggestions for average wine drinkers as differentiated from connoisseurs, although I find most American Zin too fruity, too intense and too high in alcohol for turkey, even dark meat with cranberry jelly. I’ll serve a Trentodoc bubbly to start, and then let my guests choose from a dozen wines of all types so they can decide for themselves what pairs best with each dish, whether it’s the green bean casserole, the turkey, the salmon, or later amongst the very different desserts. The wines will all be decanted into simple glass vessels so peeps will be surprised with what they’re drinking and thereby discover new grapes and regions. Thanksgiving is the best holiday for doing this. Another geeky commenter mentioned Romartin, a grape few know but is really quite good with all things turkey. Whites that weren’t mentioned are Kabinett level Riesling, Pinot Gris from Friuli and Gruner Veltliner, perhaps my favorite. We had a pre Thanksgiving dinner last weekend and the favorite red was a Babic from Croatia. Other reds to consider: Cannonau, Gamay, and old Rioja. So many wines, so little time…

  15. I really don't like to bring wines to friends anymore. The last time I did that I thought it would be nice to bring a classified bordeaux and since they did not even own wine glasses I was drinking Chateau d'Issan from a solo cup. And I can attest that most people really don't like these kinds of wines. (saw someone abandon his full solo cup).

  16. For casual drinkers I think they will like more a sparkling Moscato de D’Asti than Prosecco. Usually more sweet and intense nose yet not complex.
Not a single spanish recommendation 😢
