We love Thai food – that’s one of the reasons we visit Thailand or live here. But we should recognise that not all Thai food is as good for our health as it seems. Today we discuss a lot of different aspects about Thai food, get your ‘go to’ Thai meals, your favourites and your opinions about Thai food vs other world cuisines.

I am asian and I am with you Tim I am not really into sticky rice and usually just eat the mango with the coconut milk sauce and throw the rice away 🤣. I am trying to reduce my carb intake which includes rice. Its tough being asian because rice is life for us but I do feel a difference so I cut my rice intake in half now
Food poisioning. I never got it in thailand. Only place I remember getting food poisioning is USA, Indonesia, France, and recently 4 months ago Japan! Yes Japan! I couldnt believe it myself because I been there about 10 times and lived there for 2 years and never got food poisioning until my last trip! I ate raw shrimp in Ao Nang Krabi and didnt get sick. I travel international every year and this year alone been to 4 countries (mexico, japan, malaysia, thailand) and of the 4 i got food poisioning in Japan. Go figure!
I eat the carnivore diet only. very low carb.
Massaman curry??? About the most popular Thai dish in Oz and around the world. I guess not so in Pommyland!
Mark Wiens has a BK restaurant called Phed Mark.
The MSG hysteria is ridiculous. Its a type of salt that also exists in Nature in for example cheese and tomatoes (yes tomatoes).
It also exist in almost all western prefab food, things like sauce/soup/stew free dried ingredient mixes, flavored potato chips and many many more. But its not listed as MSG, its listed as “flavor enhancer” or E621. Along with its close brother E622
Most people eat MSG every day without knowing it
MSG sensitivity is hysteria, 99.5% of the time.
Yes rice cheap filler high in blood sugar that's what does you
Am a noodle man pad Thai lol
Why Thai? I am addicted to the chili! Hottest thing I’ve eaten was Jungle Curry, followed closely by a Som Tom that was so hot as to be inedible. Should have been marked as Radioactive Wasre!
Agree with you on MSG. Also; white wine and Pad Thai, what? 😆 Finally; more expensive places they try to justify themselves with gimmicks and possibly some better ingredients. E.g. wrapping an already perfectly cooked pad Thai in egg, serving it on a plate and paying an extra 5 seconds of attention to making the garnishings look fancy. Also: RIP Hitch.
I do love that Laotian and Malaysian food… I meant Thai food.😂. However, krapow and pad thai are truly Thai. The others on that list were “borrowed” from their neighbors.
Thank you, Tim, for all your news updates .🤗💙😊
What does 555 mean in all those comments?
I like it but seeing the grease floating on top of the soups doesn't inspire confidence.
Thailand Street Food
Main ingredients for a great Thai street food meal:
A ton of spices
1 million eggs
A load of monosodium glutamate (MSG)
A cargo of Maggi magic powder
1 million liters of vinegar
1 million kilograms of sugar
some cooking oils of unknown origin
Then add some peanuts and whatever other spices, leaves and powders you find around the table and here we go.

Hi Tim
I’m looking for the electric razor on Lazada and see the same for 2000B. In your video you said 150B-200B so wondering if it’s 2000B? Will still get it if it is
Kind regards
My wife's cooking has changed over 51 years of marriage. In the early couple decades lots of veggies, moderately spicy hot, and American style breakfasts with bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Middle decades more cosmopolitan cooking after three years in Naples, Italy and Panama. She cooks decent pasta dishes and a great tuna fish salad. Later decades more meat, esp. fish, and less veggies. We dine out only a few times a year. My wife is critical of the quality and quantity. Some favorites are 'Gang Gy' with green curry sauce, Chinese doughnuts, Chinese brown eggs with pork, chicken with lots of potatoes, carrots, celery, more veggies which we call 'Airplane chicken', 'Jok' or porridge, bacon and eggs maybe once a week or so, and plenty of fish either tilapia, red snapper, white snapper. We no longer eat turkey at American Thanksgiving as GoT only allows pre-cooked Butterballs as they are protecting the Thai turkey farmers. Not so many restaurants here just south of Hua Hin. The quality and portion size is reduced due same price, new cooks, and whatever. I buy chili, butter beans, and Prego in cans.
Great video today Tim ❤
De-monetized for Fah Q and Snigger
Phanaeng curry is a very old Thai dish and has absolutely nothing to do with Panang in Malaysia. Wikipedia has recently been partly corrected but not fully. If the writer had actually read Mom Somchin Rachanupraphan's book Tamra Kap Khao, it would explain the true Kymer meaning of Phanaeng.
Tom Yum Goong. Outstanding spice mix.
Sticky rice is common with meals in the north (chiang mai/rai) and north-east (Issan), not just desserts. BTW, I'll take your sticky rice and condensed milk while you can eat the mango Tim, as I became extremely allergic to mango after 25 years of eating it.
If eggs are washed, the natural membrane around the outer surface is destroyed, therefore you'd have to refrigerate.
Thumbs up 👍 Tim……
HoiZapp Seafood in Thalang is our favorite…..
Tummour restaurants all over Thailand is very good as well
Suay Cherngtalay a little pricey but well worth it 😎
Sorry the food off the street is not the same as a upscale restaruant. The difference is the quality of ingrediants. If you think there isn't much difference then I will not be taking food advice from you
