This beautiful late 18th-century villa with a large private pool sits behind a pair of old iron gates on the edge of a tiny hamlet, set in the hills between Greve and Panzano in Chianti. The views from the house and its grounds are breath-taking; hills dotted with farmhouses, olive groves, vineyards and the Etruscan village of Panzano silhouetting the skyline. Villa di Pile offers high ceilings that guarantee cool rooms and comfortable sitting rooms both on the ground floor and first floor, spacious air-conditioned bedrooms and modern bathrooms.

The infinity pool, surrounded by sun loungers, is set below the villa within the gated garden and encompassed by lush green lawns. There are some lovely fruit trees lining the garden, and there is also a beautiful vegetable garden which adds to the countryside feel of the grounds. One guest testifies to the idyllic setting the grounds offer in our Reviews: β€œThe villa was the most spectacular home I’ve ever seen with jaw-dropping views and incredible gardens. We were traveling with three generations of family and every person had an amazing time. I would go back in a heartbeat.”

The villa is imposingly elegant but not too formal and coupled with the dazzling views of the Chianti it makes for a perfectly placed and stylish base from where to explore this timeless corner of Tuscany. The internationally renowned restaurant β€œRistoro di Lamole” is 1 mile away, uphill from the villa which is a perfect chance to savour the views and work-up an appetite; their beautiful panoramic dining terrace serves even more breath-taking views, and their menu is a refined take on traditional Tuscan cuisine.

The number of towns and villages to visit is too long to list; this is the heart of the Chianti Classico, one of the most beautiful spots in the world and a dream-come-true for foodies and wine-lovers alike. Located nearby is the estate of Vignamaggio, on which villa β€œIl Cenobbio” is situated, and where Mona Lisa was said to be born. The word “Chianti” was allegedly first coined here, more recently the film “Much ado about nothing” was filmed in this area.

Greve in Chianti is the largest nearby town that offers a great selection of shops, restaurants and weekly markets; it is 4 miles away, whilst Florence is less than 25 miles along the scenic Chiantigiana road that cuts through the Chianti. Of course you can choose to add meals as well as extra maid service, cooking lessons and a shopping list for arrival via our Concierge Service, who will make sure your needs are fulfilled.
