Asciano near Siena is a small town in Tuscany region of Italy. This hill town in the province of Siena is full of charm, great food, and amazing wine, and wonderful local shopping. It is located at the centre of the Crete senesi 19 miles (30 southeast of the town of Siena by rail. Siena is the capital of the province of Siena. Siena is the 12th largest city in the region by number of inhabitants, with a population of 53,062 as of 2022

Asciano, with only 7,000 people has origins as Etruscan, Roman and Lombard settlements. Asciano sets in the foothills of the Crete, in the upper valley of the Ombrone river between Siena and the Valdichiana. Asciano is a typical medieval borough, surrounded by 14th century walls. 4th and 5th century items have been excavated nearby and remains of Roman baths, with a fine mosaic pavement were found within the town in 1898.
