Italian seasoning is a fragrant blend of dried herbs that embodies the essence of classic Italian cooking. It typically features a mix of basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, sage, and parsley. Each herb adds a unique note—basil brings a sweet, peppery flavour, oregano contributes a robust earthiness, and rosemary adds a sharp, pine-like aroma. Thyme gives a subtle, woodsy touch, while marjoram is slightly floral and sweet. Sage brings a savoury, almost peppery warmth, and parsley adds a mild, fresh herbaceousness.
This blend is versatile, used to season pasta sauces, marinades, grilled meats, roasted vegetables, and more, enhancing dishes with its well-balanced mix of herbal flavours. The dried herbs are finely ground, ensuring they disperse evenly throughout any dish, imparting depth and complexity without overpowering the main ingredients.
The beauty of Italian seasoning lies in its ability to tie flavours together seamlessly, making it an essential staple for adding that unmistakable Mediterranean touch to your cooking.

Excellent video …😊
How sensible to do a short video on an important topic as this. I have every herb in my garden bar Basil as its Spring here so I'll get busy drying what i have and plant Basil seed asap. Thanks Rick..
I dry my own herbs and a spice grinder helps with the rosemary , that's a pain by hand for sure. Great video and love the combination!!
“Tosh “ 😂. Love it. It’s so refreshing!
Awww come on! Look at that! Scrumptious Rik! ♥️🙌🏼.
What a lovely surprise. Thank you for this. I use a lot of Italian seasoning in all sorts of dishes. There's hardly a savory dish that can't benefit from a mix such as this. Whether it takes center stage or just adds a little something it's indispensable. You really do cover all the bases.
Thank you very much for the recipe for a fragrant Italian herb seasoning mix. I've often been disappointed with the blandness of store bought plastic packages available in my region and seriously wondered why anyone used Italian herb seasoning in their cooking. Fresher is better and one can tweak the proportions according to personal preferences.
Hi Chef Rick! VERY grateful for this! God Bless!
I use that a lot and now thx to u i can make it myself😍
I’m so glad that I have huge tub of marjoram. Now I’m going to dry some.
Brilliant, rik. What a great idea. Thank you for this. I hope you have more spice mixes to share 🩷🩷🩷

Brilliant. I have lived in Italy for 35 years and it's funny because the Italians don't use it. Well they use fresh herbs I suppose. I am definitely going to do it because it's so useful. Thanks 👍🏻 💕
Fantastic rik, thank you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
