What’s your general impression of the bigger name wine critics. Talked to a Somm at local steakhouse and his take was interesting
I recently tried the 2020 vintage of this wine and it was the first time I’ve ever tried it. It was at a Bordeaux tasting with some big names there (Lynch Bages, Pichon Baron, Beychevelle, etc.) this white wine absolutely blew me away. Never tasted a white wine with such explosive flavors and aromas yet so balanced and smooth. Every other white wine I’ve enjoyed in the past tastes like it’s been watered down in comparison to this one. I kept coming back to this table the whole night, none of the other whites (or reds for that matter) came close. Fiancée and I agreed it was wine of the night. By far the best white I’ve ever had and I am looking forward to trying one with some age on it!
I will say one highly regarded wine that I did not really agree with that night was the Smith Haut Lafite white. Felt that it wasn’t nearly on the same level as the Chevalier yet had a really high score too.
